The final 2024 Japan Olympic basketball roster is set. Similar to Greece, they are light on NBA players. They have two on the team for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The players on this Japanese roster include a couple NBA players in LA Laker Rui Hachimura and former NBA’er Yuta Watanable. There’s also college star (Japanese Steph Curry) Keisei Tominaga of Nebraska, former NBA prospect Yudai Baba and G-Leaguer Yuki Togashi. Then there’s arguably the team’s star Yuki Kawamura, who has been putting on a show in 2024. He is Japan’s B. League reigning MVP and recently signed a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies.

There is one college player on the squad, Akira Jacobs, and the others play professionally in Japan. You can check out the team name and location for each player on the Japan Olympic basketball roster.

This is arguably one of the most talented Japanese national teams that the country has produced. Some of the Japanese basketball’s biggest fans are traveling to Paris and likely putting some financial karma in the direction of Team Japan. On that topic, Japanese bookmakers that provide a mobile app makes betting even more accessible. While the team boasts some talented names, the East Asian country has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to high level basketball where FIBA ranks Japan 26th in their World Rankings in international basketball; right below Mexico and above Iran.

Japan Pre-Olympic Basketball Exhibition Results

Team Japan played six exhibition games before Olympic play is scheduled to start. They played two against both Australia and Korea. They wrapped up their exhibition schedule against Germany and Serbia. Japan is the team having the biggest or longest odds to win the Gold medal in the 2024 games. Probably not a bad assessment…but it’s still pretty cool that Team Japan has a shot. There are a lot of other men’s national teams that would gladly trade spots with them.
