The 2019 free agency that all the talking heads have been building up the last couple months started out with a bang. What seemed like would be a summer of negotiations, posturing and watching for the “dominoes to fall” after the big free agent stars signed ended up in a flurry of action in the first several hours when free agents were allowed to sign.

One of the biggest moves of the night was Kyrie Irving‘s intent on joining the Brooklyn Nets. It’s no surprise that Irving was going to leave the Boston Celtics, it became clear throughout the season that Irving was ready to part ways with many reports of a tense and unhappy locker room, but it was surprising that Kevin Durant decided to team up with him in BK.

Shortly after the official Association Editions came out in black, the league released the home white version as well as the Statement Edition that features “BKLYN” across the chest of the uniform.

Kyrie Joins Strong Brooklyn Core

As surprising as the move was to many NBA observers, some did predict the move correctly. Irving to the Nets does make a lot of sense. First of all, Irving is a New Jersey native so he’ll be playing for the franchise that was previously located in the Garden State; one that he rooted for growing up in New Jersey. The current team features a strong solid young core of players in Caris Lavert, Spencer Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen, Joe Harris and Rodions Kurucs.

That’s not all, when the NBA allows for it, Kyrie will reportedly sign a 4-year max deal worth $140.8 million with the Brooklyn Nets and will be joined by NBA All-Stars in Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan though Durant won’t join the Nets this season due to his injury, but the following season promises to be spectacular.
