It’s nice to have some normalcy though and now that it’s March, there’s sporting event that we can count on — the NCAA basketball tournament otherwise known as March Madness.

With hundreds of NCAA programs having to deal with COVID-19 regulations, schedule changes, and a plethora of uncertainty, the 2020-21 NCAA Basketball season has been a whirlwind, Now we’re finishing up the conference tournaments, halfway through March with Selection Sunday to kick off the 2021 tourney. If there’s one constant that comes along with March Madness, it’s printing off, and filling out your March Madness bracket.

March Madness bracket for 2021

Even with everything else going on and taking our minds away from hoops, the 2021 event is sure to be one of the more exciting, unpredictable, and unique brackets in tournament history. That’s because traditional powerhouses like Duke, Kentucky, and UNC are struggling to even qualify for a spot in March Madness while smaller, lesser-known basketball programs like Iowa, Baylor, and Alabama have emerged to take their place.

In fact, with one Duke Blue Devils’ positive COVID-19 test, the program was disqualified from the ACC tournament entirely, and as a result, are guaranteed to miss their first March Madness since 1995. One of the bluest of Blue Bloods will not be competing in the “Big Dance” for the first time in over 25 years. The 2021 college basketball season has certainly been a crazy year.

As of right now, several teams have officially secured a spot in the upcoming NCAA Tournament from winning their respective conference tournaments. Though we can already assume that, outside of the undefeated Gonzaga squad (26-0), the remaining #1 seeds will likely be either Baylor (22-1), Michigan (20-3), Illinois (20-6), Iowa (20-7), or Alabama (21-6).

As for the bubble teams and conference tournament champions? We’ll have to wait for those to be completed and announced before we know for sure who’s going to fill out the rest of this year’s March Madness bracket following the selection show on Sunday.
