Where to buy the Brooklyn Nets’ new gray “BKLYN” jerseys

In October 2019, the Brooklyn Nets released their new Statement Edition jerseys from Nike for the 2019-20 season. The team will wear these new gray BKLYN jerseys 22 times this season.

Designed in collaboration with iconic Brooklyn-based artist Eric Haze (HAZE) whose resume include creating logos, album covers for hip hop icons LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, EPMD, and Tommy Boy Records. The new gray Statement jerseys brought “graffiti”-inspired lettering to represent the ubiquitous street art stylings found all over the borough. Haze has a background in graffiti as one of the first such artists to exhibit their work publicly. He moved into hip hop and has .

The new concrete gray alternate uniforms emphasizes HAZE’s hand-drawn “BKLYN” letters across the jersey’s front chest. The unofficial name these are being referred to is appropriately the “graffiti jersey.”

“I wanted it to be hand-styles, I wanted it to feel organic, not too corporate.” said HAZE of his concept and approach. “At the same time, I wanted it to be clean and crisp.”

You can find HAZE’s signature stars down the uniform’s side taking on a modern remix to one of the Nets’ most recognizable images. The stars recall the throwback jerseys worn by the likes of Julius Erving back in the ABA days. The team’s moniker “NETS” is found on the left side of the shorts while the team’s secondary logo is balanced onto the right thigh.

When Will Nets Wear the Gray Jerseys?

Brooklyn will wear the jerseys for the first time at the Barclays Center on Friday on November 1st when they take on the Houston Rockets. In total, Kyrie Irving, Caris LeVert, DeAndre Jordan and Jarrett Allen will don these Statement Edition uniforms in 22 games this season.

Brooklyn Nets Gray Graffiti Jerseys Debut

The Brooklyn franchise released the new jerseys to the public during a Practice at the Park at Brooklyn Bridge Park and the players that showed up, loved the new remixed uniforms and colorways.

“These are awesome,” said Nets guard Joe Harris about the new jerseys. “These are some of the coolest jerseys I’ve seen… The graffiti type print is symbolic of the borough itself. It has a good vibe, good feel to it and it definitely kind of echoes the city and the team.”

“I’m loving (the new uniforms). When I saw them in the locker room this morning, I was like ‘Oh yeah! That’s dope.’” said new Brooklyn Net (and BK resident) Garrett Temple. “I love grays, black and white, so I’m really feeling the new jerseys, I’m really feeling the new court. It’s a great vibe.”

Temple’s and Harris’ replies echo the consensus on these Brooklyn Nets ‘graffiti’ jerseys as they seem to be universally loved by players and fans. Gray tends to be associated with boring and plain, but the Nets’ new Statement Edition uniforms really show how gray colorway can pop. Check out the jerseys at the Brooklyn Nets’ official NBA Store.
