Here are the key dates for the 2026 NFL Playoffs:

• January 10–12, 2026: Wild Card Round: the opening weekend of the playoffs featuring AFC and NFC Wild Card games, including Saturday through Monday matchups.
• January 17–18, 2026: Divisional Round: the highest remaining seeds in each conference host the winners from the Wild Card round.
• January 25, 2026: AFC and NFC Championship Games: conference title games to determine the Super Bowl participants.
• February 8, 2026: Super Bowl LX: the NFL championship game, scheduled for Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

How Does the NFL Playoff Seeding Work?

The NFL is a bit different than some other professional sports in how the brackets get reseeded as teams progress through the playoffs. To start with, each conference now sees seven teams make the playoffs. The overall #1 seed in both the AFC and NFC enjoy first round byes and home-field advantage in the divisional round of the playoffs. The other teams will face off in the Wild Card Round of play. The three non-divisional winners in each conference are seeded #5-#7.

After the Wild Card round is complete, the lowest remaining seed will be set to face off against the #1 seed. The remaining low seed will play the highest left. For AFC/NFC championship games, the final two remaining teams in each conference face each other. The winner of each game moves on to the Super Bowl.
