The NBA’s Top Selling Jerseys of 2009
On April 1st, 2009, the NBA released their annual jersey sales numbers that gave us a view into the league’s most popular players. After losing the top rank last year, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers went straight to the top of the list. He was followed by Cleveland’s LeBron James in second place and Chris Paul of the Charlotte Hornets at number three. This is the fifth time that Bryant has led the league in jersey sales.
Last year’s top jersey seller Kevin Garnett fell to #4 and Allen Iverson was #5 with his new team, the Detroit Pistons. The Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade was #6 and fell right outside the top five again this season.

The above ranking is based on NBA jersey sales data for the 2008-09 NBA season. For the NBA’s best-selling jerseys in NBA history, it’s tough to craft that list without having NBA sales data from every year. And we don’t have that. However, we looked at he numbers we do have, player popularity, looked at the teams and players that competed in the NBA Finals and came up with our list of the players with the best-selling jerseys ever.
