Caitlin Clark sets WNBA All Star Game Records

Caitlin Clark WNBA All Star Game Records

Another game, more Caitlin Clark records. The WNBA All Star game featured the WNBA All Stars vs Team USA on July 20th. The All Stars upset Team USA 117-109, and Indiana Fever guard, Clark, did not disappoint. She started the game and set a few more records of course.

Who was on the WNBA All-Star Starting Lineup?

WNBA legend Cheryl Miller was the coach this year taking on Team USA who will represent the United States during the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Clark was joined by teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell on the squad (second selection for each player). The other starters included: DeWanna Bonner, Jonquel Jones, Arike Ogunbowale, and Nneka Ogwumike. This was the first time that Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese played on the same team for the first time.

What WNBA All Star Game Records did Caitlin Clark Set?

When Caitlin Clark was announced as a starter for the 2024 WNBA All Star Game, she became just the ninth rookie to earn a start. Clark didn’t stop there. While she only scored four points in the contest, she notched another game with double-digit assists (10). This is the new WNBA All Star game record for a rookie. It’s also the second-most assists in an All-Star game ever. Sue Bird holds the record with 11. Bird was courtside during the game yesterday. This comes on the heels of Clark’s record setting single game, regular season assist record set before the all star break. She notched 19 assists against the Dallas Wings.

What’s Next for Caitlin Clark?

As we sit right now, Clark is not part of Team USA. If she does not become an injury replacement, the next time we see her in game action will be against Phoenix for the Indiana Fever. That game is scheduled to take place on August 16th, 2024. Heading into the WNBA All Star Break, the Fever are sitting in the #7 seed for the WNBA Playoffs. If all goes well, fans will get to see Clark and her teammates in the postseason for the first time in a while.
