Following the 2014 CBS Selection Sunday Broadcast, the 2014 NIT Bracket and seeds were announced by the NCAA. Featured in this year’s tournament are 32 teams that were not selected for postseason play in the NCAA’s primary tournament. The 2014 NIT brackets are set-up based on the #1 seed for the respective quadrant in the tourney since teams play at the home court of the higher seed (if available) until reaching the quarterfinals and beyond. Similar to past years, the NIT will finish-up at Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City.

When Does the 2014 NIT Start?

The 2014 NIT will get started on Tuesday, March18th, 2014 across all four regions of play. There are seven games scheduled to get started on Wednesday March 19^th, 2014. All of the NIT games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks, with the quarterfinals scheduled to take place on March 25^th and 26^th, 2014 respectfully. The 2014 NIT Championship will be held on Thursday, April 3^rd, 2014 and will be shown on ESPN. Three of the four overall, #1 seeds in the NIT tournament were considered NCAA Tournament snubs this year.

2014 NIT Tournament Semifinals and Championship

The 2014 NIT Tournament “Final Four” or semifinal games will be held on the evening of Tuesday, April 1^st, 2014 at MSG. The NIT Championship will follow on the night of April 3^rd, 2014 and will be shown on ESPN. Although many teams are disappointed about not earning spots in the NCAA Tourney, many have used a successful run to the NIT Championship to build upon success for the following basketball season. It will be interesting to see if we see this occur for the 2014 NIT Championship onwards into the 2014-15 NCAA season!
