Selection Sunday for 2019 was March 17, 2019
In 2019, Selection Sunday fell really late into the month of March.
Selection Sunday 2019 is one of the latest Selection Sundays in the history of the event. This year, Selection Sunday is on March 17th 2019. That evening, the NCAA Selection Committee will deliver their selections for the at-large bids and seeding for the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball tournament and CBS will announce those lucky 68 teams that will compete in this year’s tournament.
Once all the teams have been announced, college basketball fans and their co-workers rush off to their work printers and inkjets to print out the 2019 version of the NCAA tournament brackets.
For the women’s tournament, their bracket is filled on the next day, Monday, March 18, 2019. The women’s selection show is also nationally televised. Tune into ESPN on Monday at 7 p.m. ET
March Madness to April Insanity
Though the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is synonymous with the month of March, the tournament always stretches into April. The actual championship game that determines the winner usually falls on the first few days of the following month. For 2019, the NCAA Men’s Title game is quite late — Monday, April 6th, 2019.
