With his performance throughout the 2019 NBA Playoffs — especially during the Eastern Conference Finals and the NBA Finals — Kawhi Leonard led the Raptors to the NBA Championship and propelled himself into the conversation as the NBA’s best player.
Named the Finals MVP after downing a story line-filled series vs. the Golden State Warriors, he outplayed Steph Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid on his way to the title. His status was further boosted by the injury to Kevin Durant and an aging LeBron James, after all that, Leonard was the last NBA superstar standing.

Coming in a slew of monochromatic T-shirts, various slogans are emblazoned across each piece. On top of the “Fun Guy.” T-shirts that New Balance has already put out, another popularized statement “Board Man Gets Paid.” is placed in a thin serif font above a small New Balance logo. The former four-word phrase is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fun trash talk Leonard used to say with his college and high school opponents.
Shrug. That’s all the New Balance Creative team could come up with for the player that just won the NBA Finals MVP? I know Kawhi probably couldn’t care less, but that’s really poor representation and marketing for your top basketball player partnership whom just happens to be at the absolute pinnacle of the NBA season.
