The New York Knicks are floundering under the leadership of Carmelo Anthony…. again.
And to add insult to already a terrible season, the 6’8 Carmelo tried to take out his frustration on the rim last night after the whistle. Let’s just say it wasn’t just unsuccessful, but embarrassing:
Yeah. That happened in real life. A not-even-close attempt at a dunk. Anthony was not only stuffed by the rim, but he fell back; attempting to gather his balance before finally succumbing to his own foolishness.
Crumpled on the floor, Carmelo does what he always does after doing something stupid (usually getting his shot blocked or a DUMB foul) — he smiles it off.
It’s one thing to clown yourself if you’re Lance Stephenson, J.R. Smith or Javale McGee, but it’s another when you’re an NBA superstar and leader of a franchise. I don’t think we’d ever see Damien Lillard or Steph Curry embarrassing themselves like this.
Carmelo explained what happened to reporters after the game: “I was trying to figure out if I had my legs underneath me,” he said. “My mind and my body was telling me different things… You gotta laugh at yourself. You gotta laugh at yourself.”
We’re laughing, but we’re rarely ever laughing with you, Melo.
