After Kobe Bryant sustained the first major injury of his career near the end of last season, many wondered how the 35-year-old’s body would respond and how long it may take him to come back 100-percent healthy. Though we’re still not sure if Bryant will be ready for the 2013-2014 regular season tip-off, according to Bryant, his Achilles tendon is healing well.

“My tendon feels really, really good. I was really lucky,” said Bryant while promoting Lenovo smartphones on Monday in the Philippines.

Bryant addressed a crowd in Manila and answered questions about leadership and his career. He paced back and forth on the stage and made the comments about his Achilles when he was asked if he wanted to sit down. The entire video of his talk is available on a YouTube channel devoted to Bryant.

Bryant missed the final games of last year’s regular season and the playoffs after undergoing surgery in mid-April following the injury. His injury has added more looming questions over the Los Angeles Lakers’ upcoming season and when he may retire, but it seems like Bryant’s recovery may be ahead of schedule, which is something he credits his trainers with.

“The trainers go with me everywhere. Family vacations, business trips — they’re there all the time,” he said.

With the NBA season still more than two months away, Bryant has even more time to heal and prepare for another championship run.
