JaVale McGee has been hailed as one of the biggest prospects of his generation, when you talk about player’s physicality, but he never reached the top shelf of the NBA, mainly because of his lack of basketball IQ. Today, after spending 7 seasons with 3 different teams including the Philadelphia 76ers, McGee at the age of 27 finds himself in a situation to sign with the Dallas Mavericks who lost their big man Tyson Chandler to the Phoenix Suns in free agency and didn’t manage to keep DeAndre Jordan at the same time.

If McGee decides to sign with the Dallas Mavericks he’ll be playing for a nitty gritty coach Rick Carlisle and will have an important role as a starting center, something that he maybe needs in order to gain his reputation around the league. Playing alongside Dirk Nowitzki, Chandler Parsons and Wesley Matthews can’t be a bad thing for sure.
