Chris Paul and Blake Griffin click to even the series against San Antonio

The series between the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers is probably the best matchup in the first round of the 2015 playoffs. In a season that’s been plagued with season-ending injuries and where you have 7 out of 8 duels finishing in probably 5 games or less, the battle between San Antonio and Los Angeles is a true treat for every NBA fan.

Game number 4 was a make or brake moment for the Clippers. If they win they still got chances, statistical (they won the first game of the series) and theoretical, but if they lose it’s hard to believe that the Spurs will allow a chance like that to slip through their hands.

When the going gets tough, Chris Paul gets going. The Clippers leader and point guard scored 34 points while managing to feed his teammates 7 times in the process. He had sufficient support from Blake Griffin who finished the game with 20 points and 19 rebounds. In a game that was decided at the end of the third quarter, when you have your bench squad on the floor, Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers combined for 31 points and made the decisive punch against the Spurs.

Kawhi Leonard, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker combined for 66 points, but the rest of the starters (Tiago Splitter and Danny Green) failed to score in their time on the floor. Game 5 of the series will be played in Los Angeles tomorrow night. The Clippers have the opportunity to close down the series with two home games in a row, but it’s certain that Gregg Popovich has something up his sleeve for Game 5.
