No Arroyo, No Party

Carlos Arroyo missed the first two games for Galatasaray in this series with an ankle injury. The Turks had rough time in these ones as they lost in convincing manner from the powerful Barcelona. It was noticeable that Arroyo is the key element in their Euroleague success this year. He played in game three and Galatasaray was at the verge of continuing their Eurolegae campaign for at least one more game, but Barcelona had something else on their minds. Arroyo finished the game with 21 points 4 three pointers and 4 assists.

Galatasaray 75-78 Barcelona

Galatasaray had a 72-70 lead entering the last minute of regulation. Some poor decisions and ill timed fouls allowed the Catalonia side to take the win. It all started with Marcelinho Huearts tying the game at 72 a piece. After that Barcelona scored four unanswered free throws in a row. A three pointer from Milan Macvan made it a one point game, but Galatasaray just didn’t have the strengths for a complete turnaround of the result. Markoishvili missed a desperation half court shot to propel Barcelona to the Euroleague Final Four Tournament.

Galata played some good team basketball with lots of passes and triangle offense plays. Macvan, Arroyo and Erceg combined for 51 points and the trio made couple of big plays down the stretch. It will be interesting to see will the team keep the playing staff that they have because they’re playing great basketball and it is intriguing how will they play with less injury problems.

Marcelinho Huertas and Brad Oleson were both big in the final couple of possessions for Barcelona they scored 9 of their 29 points combined in the last two minutes of the game. Barcelona will probably face their bitter rivals Real Madrid in the first round of the Euroleague Final Four Tournament as they’re just one game of eliminating Greek champions Olympiacos.
