Barcelona crushed Panathinaikos in tonight’s fixture and proved themselves as the best team in Group E. The Greek side on other hand shouldn’t worry because Fenerbahce surprisingly lost to EA7 Milan. This means that Panathinaikos now has the same score of 6 wins and 6 loses as their domestic rivals Olympiacos.

Alejandro Abrines and Erazem Lorbek combined for 30 points for the home side which was enough for a convincing win against Pana. Roko Ukic and Dimitris Diamantidis were the leaders of the away team and they were the only two players on the team that scored in double figures.

Panathinaikos started the match with great composure and with tight defense which led to a low scoring first quarter. Barcelona focused and gained a ten point lead till half time. That was the boost they were looking for and finished the game with great authority.

Barcelona and Emporio Armani hold the top two spots in the Group E in Euroleague’s Top 16 phase. The battle is on for the last two spots that lead in the playoffs. Olympiacos is third with 6 wins and 6 loses, the same effect that places Panathinaikos on the fourth spot because of point differential. Fenerbahce and Unicaja have both 5 wins and 7 loses. It will be interesting to see how will it all unfold in the next two rounds of the Top 16 phase because Fenerbahce has two easy games and Olympiacos will meet Panathinaikos in their last game of the Top 16 phase.
