I just watched the game between Champville and Riyadi. Champville won narrowly, by the way.
Usually, I don´t watch a lot of Middle East basketball so I am not an expert at all but I was kind of shocked at the lack of quality of the import players, on both teams. I heard that these teams pay big money for their import guys and I wonder why. You can see that they are not motivated at all, even though they might have been good one day, especially Loren Woods and Nate Johnson. They look as if they are only collecting paychecks, Johnson could not even inbound the ball in the key possession of the 4th quarter and then he was smiling while losing the game. The Egyptian big guy was horrible, too, only complaining all the time.
Garnett Thompson is an athletic streetball player but he has no basketball IQ, at all. The only import I liked a bit was Youngblood. I had seen him at Kent and in Austria before, he is skilled and can do different things on the court but he probably makes the least money of all those guys.
I was also disappointed in El-Khatib; I had heard so much about him. You can see that he is skilled but he forces too much and looks kind of old.
The guy I liked best was the SG on Champville; he made key three pointers, played smart and did not force anything.
I wonder why the teams don´t sign younger, hungry guys for less money...
