While playing in Egypt, Bradford said, the league allowed each team to carry one "import" during the regular season and three during the postseason. The 6-foot-3 guard was his team's import. He recalled his first practice with the team. He shot jumpers as a group of men — none of them looking the part of a pro — gravitated toward his basket.
"I said, 'Coach, where's the team at?' He said, 'It's right here.' I said, 'No, Coach. Where's the team at?' " Bradford remembered.
"It was like playing with your cousin and he got his little friend to come over. Then you've got a 6-foot-4 power forward. That's the thing. On top of the money, I can pretty much play with my eyes closed."
Bradford led his team to an Arab championship, raising his Middle East profile another notch. He has signed to play next season in Qatar.
"It's like the NCAA tournament of the Middle East. And we won it," Bradford said. "It's not only the biggest thing for the club, it's the biggest thing for the country. It's like a junior college team winning the NCAA tournament."
