Posted this in the U18 thread, but fits here more , for all the talk that the 2014 Gilas WC team had better offense well here are the stats
we really didn't have any problems scoring in the OQT we scored 84 pts vs France and avg 40 % from three , vs NZ we scored 80 pts , 40 % from three. On both games we made 11 threes. if you translate that to a 48 minute game that equates to avg 100 pts a game and this is vs a world class athletic team on both occassions, Not an Asia or even Chinese team that is slow. but good defensive teams. So for all the flaws you mentioned in offense (e.g No DDO etc) , the stats don't really support it .
here are WC offensive stats
vs Croatian team in 40 min we scored just 70 pts
vs Greek squad we scored (70 pts)
vs Senegal we scored 64 pts in regulation
vs Puerto Rico 73 pts
vs Argentina 81 pts
So on avg in regulation play Gilas 2 in the WC avg 71 pts vs Gilas 4 OQT which avg 82 pts , so where is the better offense there?
Where the team really got hurt in the OQT is in defenses. mis assignments and poor transition particularly on Blatche ( the center and supposedly the anchor on defense , especially for an undersize team) , that's really the story. Talked to one NZ coach and he could not believe at how poorly Blatche came down on defense
if only Ndiaye is not a national player of senegal...
