FIBA protocol? Are we going to host the qualifiers?
I think referring to IATF protocol.

Firstly, I would like to emphasize that I find the proposal to set-up the PBA bubble in Dubai to be impractical & a bit unfeasible. As some posters here pointed out, its a logistical nightmare.
A PBA bubble set-up within Luzon would still be the best option. And speaking of which, in order to have some synchronization with the National team training/preparation, I suggest that the Gilas training be put inside the PBA "bubble".
Guys like Dave Ildefonso, 1GDL, Javi Gomez-De Liano, Tungcab, Kobe Paras, Dwight Ramos, could join PBA special draftees Isaac Go, Bulanadi, Suerte, Mike & Matt Nieto for a full-time Gilas training/practices inside the PBA "bubble". Then the PBA regular Gilas members - Kiefer, Pogoy, Rosario, Erram, CJ Perez, Tratter, Justin Chua, Standhardinger, can attend Gilas practice once or twice a week. Then at around 12 days before the 2nd window, PBA will take a brief break so as to allow the PBA regulars to attend Gilas training on a full-time basis.
Given the situation that we are in right now, this for me would be the most practical, realistic & feasible approach which would be more acceptable to the PBA.
I don't think they will get a clearance.. It's too risky as of now.. I think JGDL is also under 21.. so cross mark narin sya.. Matt Nieto and Kiefer can handle that qualifiers..

BTW, I still see Thirdy Ravena joining the team/pool around 10 to 12 days before the 2nd window despite Thirdy playing in Japan. We have to take note that the Japanese league also takes a brief break of about 10 days to give way to its National team training. Meaning Thirdy may take a break from his Japanese pro team to join the National team training for the 2nd window. We also have to take note that Thirdy trained & played for Gilas in the 1st window so he also have some familiarity with coach Dickel's system & have established some chemistry with other Gilas teammates kahit papano.
You have that point.. I want also that way, even i'm the one who said that lame excuse.. What we need right now is SBP and IATF should have conversation.. I hope that IATF should have exemptions on our national athletes.. This is what i pointed.. Sobrang higpit but no alternative plans ang IATF eh.. That is what i pointed here.. With the current UST saga right now eh alanganin pa bigyan ng go-signal and SBP.. SBP don't want to have another issue again.. especially MVP and Duterte admin not in good terms.. and if Tab will conduct illegal training eh we will lose Tab.. I don't want that to be happend.. Masaya dyan sila Chua at CYG..

Its obvious naman that SBP has a plan - that is to wait, wait & wait pa more...
...until November 21![]()
So obviously its a difficult & complicated situation.
Maybe if the situation is difficult & complicated the best strategy is the "wait, wait & wait pa more" approach? Ganun siguro yun.
Seriously, I think if the situation is difficult & complicated, the more reason SBP should plan & act ASAP. Baka ang mangyari eh, pagdating ng November, saka pa lang magpaplano.
Parang nakikita ko na ang mangyayari for the 2nd window:
Gilas will cram (as usual) with only a few days of training/practices.
SBP will explain: "We were constrained with the restrictions becoz of the pandemic. We couldn't plan things becoz everything was uncertain"
SBP will seek help from the PBA (borrow players from PBA teams).
PBA will reply: "We can't lend some of our players (specially the non-MVP team players) for the National team. Hindi kasi kayo kaagad nag abiso eh. You should have named the PBA players you want to include in the Gilas pool much earlier so that we could have adjusted & arranged things".
I hope I'm wrong

I ask: What about our National team preparation for the upcoming 2nd window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers? What are the SBP people doing? Meron na bang plano ang SBP regarding the Gilas team preparation/training amid this pandemic? How come SBP has been too silent regarding this matter?
While everyone (PBA & college teams) is talking about the possible "bubble" set-up, our Gilas National team training is "on the bubble". Mga SBP officials natin eh parang mga hipong tulog.
Let them prove me wrong! I'd like to be proven wrong on this.
They have no plan. That's basically it.
Remember, these are the same people who handled the AG 2018 basketball delegation where we basically didn't send a 3x3 team and only gave the NT a few weeks to prepare. We almost didn't send a team for goodness sake. It's 2019 WC preparations all over again.
Don't blame SBP for this one.. I think they will wait for FIBA announcement if the 2nd window will resume or not.. Baka kasi manyare ito gaya sa FIFA world cup qualifiers that most of the teams are on their preperation then suddenly declared it will re schedule next year.. I already post it in the other threads that FIBA will only do ala "bubble" set up because no way they will hold a home and away format due to COVID-19 crisis.. The biggest question here is most of the teams participating in the qualifiers are willing to sacrifice and let go their homecourt advantage and will do a "bubble" setting if resumes? Another question is if China will host "bubble" format eh other teams will accept? Because in FIFA most of the teams disagree of Chinese hosting of "bubble" set up in FIFA qualifiers.. that's why AFC decided to re-sched the qualifiers next year..

Let's say "bubble" format will be in place.. We will let go now of our homecourt advantage just to have bubble? And who will be the host of our group games? I'm assure that Philippines are not qualified on that list.. We are one of the most affected countries in COVID-19, Same as Indonesia.. The two other options are Thailand and South Korea.. I'm OK with Thailand, because they are least affected in 4 teams and have only low cases of virus.. But how about Indonesia? Their battle against Thailand is very crucial.. I'm assure they will not OK with that because They will lose their home court advantage against Thais if that happens.. If Korea will be host eh we are the ones that are disadvantage because we will lose our homecourt advantage over Korea.. That is very hard decsion for FIBA to make.. FIFA already experience this and they decided to cancel the remaining games this year and moved it next year.. Don't blame SBP for this.. I'm sure they are thinking this already.. Are we OK to lose our homecourt advantage just to do the Bubble set up? And mostly is other teams are also OK with this even they will ose also their precarious home advantage?
it makes sense.. why prepare if the situation is uncertain? are we sure there’s a 2nd window games in november? yes there’s schedule but will it push thru? there’s still games from 1st window that hasn’t play yet..
fiba bubble is a possibility for each group..
Possibly, but what if China will host? Are we deal with it? In FIFA, most of the countries disagree of China hosting of FIFA "bubble" plan due that they are no trust on China.. Another thing if per group is possibly "bubble" then can other countries will deal that they will lose their home court advantage? Example if Thailand will host the "bubble", Will Indonesia agree? They will lose their precarious homecourt advantage.. Their game vs Thailand is very crucial.. They don't want to lose their advantage to them.. Other groups too.. especially in West Asian groups.. Only Lebanon, Jordan and Iran are clear favorites there.. others are not.. They need those homecourt advantage atleast to have that chance to make it to the Asia cup..

I understand SBP's predicament that the 2nd window is uncertain. The thing is, in as much as there's no certainty that the 2nd window game would push thru, on the other side of the coin, there's also no certainty that the 2nd window games would be postponed or cancelled either. Its better for SBP to have a contingency plan.
Kumbaga sa kalamidad eh, its always better to prepare for a storm that won't come rather than be caught unprepared if it would eventually come.
The thing is, some Asian countries are already preparing for the 2nd window while some have already contingency plans that are in place. This despite the uncertainty of the 2nd window this November.
Whether the 2nd window would still be a home-and-away set up or the so called "bubble" set-up is beside the point. We must be prepared for that possibility. Unless of course SBP is thinking of just foregoing our campaign in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup. Wala na tayong dapat pag-usapan doon.
let’s wait and see and have patience.. and some countries hasn’t start practice yet.. and i didn't read news that boomers nor tall blacks are preparing as things are uncertain. it’s fiba’s call actually..
maybe sbp is planning right now about the possibilities.. once they have plans then they can said it to the public..
That's why much better not include 21 years old below players muna.. too much requirements will be needed for them.. they don't need it this qualifiers as of now.. kiefer and Matt nieto can handle this one first..
