I'd thought Bowles still not yet 100% healthy from his injury he got when he played in the CBA...

“We’re committed to Matt,” said Cone. “I personally recruited Matt to come over. It’s only fair that we give him a chance. He’s a lights-out shooter who works really hard. We’ll test Matt. Of course, we all know what Denzel can do. The guys on the team still remember what he did for us in Game 7 of the last Commissioner’s Cup Finals. But we’re not sure about Denzel’s condition. He hasn’t played since October and he’s coming off rehab for a knee injury.”

“We’re in a quandary at the moment because Denzel will be free to join us by Feb. 20,” said Cone. “It doesn’t look like Zhejiang will bring him back because they’re close to making it to the playoffs with Curry and Douby. Coming to terms on a contract won’t be a problem with Denzel. He’s been undergoing rehab since October so his knee should be fine. We’ll go with Matt for the meantime and hope things work out.”

Players in the Philippine Cup who are not on the submitted rosters for the Commissioners' Cup:

Air21 - Mark Andaya, Pong Escobal (to D-League);

Barako - Roger Yap, Reil Cervantes, Woody Co;

Globalport - Marvin Cruz, Al Vergara, Angelus Raymundo.

Free agents signed:

Barako - Mark Macapagal;

Globalport - Reed Juntilla.

It means that he will pace Denzel (probably would come in mid to late part) of elims now that it became longer..

I doubt...and I guess Matt Rogers can really help the Mixers defend their crown...

Coach Tim is just saying the right thing, as of now its best that your import feels he has your trust and confidence so that he'll be driven to work hard and if he really does so good then there will be no need to replace him. But if you give hints to a player or for most especially to an import in this matter, that he is just a mere stand-in and ultimately you have someone just taking his time to replace him, then there is no assurance that the original import will play his best knowing he is just a mere "tempo" so that will most likely make him play with "tampo".
