Baclao and Enrile set for switch as three-team trade gains headway

MERALCO is turning out to be the busiest team on the negotiation table in the pre-Commissioner's Cup break.

While a bigger trade involving star Sol Mercado, Globalport's Rabeh Al-Hussaini, and wantaway Talk 'N Text big man is nearing agreement, Meralco is also in talks with Air21 and Barako Bull on a separate deal.

Under the terms of the proposal that is currently in the works, the Bolts will initially get rarely used big man Jason Ballesteros from Barako Bull in exchange for a second-round pick.

The Bolts will then package Ballesteros with gunner Ronjay Enrile in a deal with Air21 where they will get former Ateneo star Nonoy Baclao and shooter John Wilson in return.

According to sources, the deal was agreen upon by Meralco coach Ryan Gregorio and Air21 governor Lito Alvarez following the tune-up game between the two teams on Tuesday.

Meralco has also informed Mercado that he is on the trading block as it pursues a major reshuffle reportedly on orders from owner Manny Pangilinan, who also owns the successful Talk 'N Text franchise.

The Mercado deal, which could involve as much as six teams, is still pending but may go through as early as Wednesday on the sidelines of the PBA board of governors' planning session in Singapore.

Bad trade if it pushes through. Cardona is the one that should be traded.

The DDO system that they're using has really taken advantage of Sol's talent. I think he is tops in assist in the phil. cup because of this system. It's almost like a perfect fit. If they let him go it will be like starting from scratch.

I'm really confused on the recent stupid decisions of Meralco, first ASI now SOL.

a possible theory that might PISS MVP is Sol's plan not renewing the contract with MERALCO after this season and to continue his career in PUERTO RICO

Adding fire to the rumors: Puerto Rico NT daw target :D

(If these rumors are true, shouldn't IBN people start burning him now-- even if it's just rumors-- we are talking about the flag here right?! :D)

Its like a more unique/creative way of saying to your boss. "I want a pay raise:cool:"..

Looks like Mikee willing to give it to him with the "basbas" of SMC peeps for the long term issues;)

that news on him playing for Puerto Rico instead caught the eye of FIBA-Asia and it gave another question on dual citizen players if they are really nationalistic or are mere mercenaries. Because that is one problem the International Olympic Committee is now checking on closely because of the rampant changing of citizenships by a number of athletes in a number of sports.

But isn't he earning the max already?

Or do you mean max under the table as well? :D

with this i think we cannot blame sol as he cant play for us, but since he is part puerto rican and might be eligible then he should grab that oppurtunity.

Sol goes out, japeth comes in. Tnt stil gets stronger as rabeh is both a legit center and power forward.

So according to Sol via twitter the Puerto Rico offer was/is legit, but mentioned that his contract wit Meralco is still with 2 years...

It's just the NT, so does the offer state that he has to stay in Puerto Rico?
Members of the NT can still proceed with their professional careers right?

That's the only possible reason to give up Sol..that they'll probably lose him for nothing..

yup, they can still proceed with their professional careers. in sol's case, it'll be in the puerto rican league, not in the PBA.
