PAO vs OLY in Greek Cup final

Excuse my ignorance but what's the "Epathla Zeus" sticker at the bottom of the trophy?
(I used to joke around when I used to tell my Greek friends that Zeus was on their side especially after they won the Euro 2004 :) )

As for this Saturdays' rematch between Oly-PAO do u guys believe the final outcome will be the same as last night?
R there any adjustments that coach Yannakis could do to change this?

It is the company making the trophies for the Greek federation, many years now.

As for your second question, I see the same outcome.

Mida's Touch

Mida's Touch

"(by Chris Mammides)

According to the Greek mythology King Midas had the ability to turn everything he touched into gold. In now a days and in the current Greek Basketball, we have two Midas the one is the Serbian Head Coach Zeljko Obradovic and the other one is the best Greek Player of the last (nearly) decade, Dimitris Diamantidis (196-G-80).

Dimitris Diamantidis was once more the top performer and the MVP of the Cup's final which took place on Sunday night. 3D, the best defender in the Euroleague the last three years took his weapon and in less than 90 seconds 'killed' Panagiotis Giannakis team with his three deadly 3pointers and his general presentation in the court the last 15 minutes of the game. Dimitris Diamantidis proved once more that he will be definitely replacing the old time classic captain of Panathinaikos, Fragiskos Alvertis with the same Mida's touch, charisma.

It wasn't only the 16 points he scored for his team, it wasn't the great defence he played against at least three red players, it wasn't his total organisational skills and his 5 assists, it was simply his PASSION, his leadership charisma which helped him to take the 'frighten' Green team by hand, and lead them all the way to their twelfth cup (out of a total of 34!).

Diamantidis prove also something else, he could be voted every year from Eurolegue as the best defender but his offensive skills are not bad at all, the three 3pointers he scored in less than 90 seconds and when the ball was really heavy for all the players in the cup's final, pinpointed that he has amazing gats and very precise shooting skills. The left handed point guard, Mister European defender, is a precious jewel in the Greek basketball courts for both Hellenic National team and Panathinaikos. Eurobasket.com wishes to the Greek player all the best and soon with another European title in his collection"

I bet Giannakis still doesnt have a clue about what happend yesterday in the last 5 mins. I'm not talking about PAO making all their shots, but shooting freely and without pressure as well as defensively closing down the paths to the basket.

Giannakis is a very small person indeed saying Panathinaikos "won the 'small' trophy". Guess how many of those he has as a coach. 0. Would he call it that had he won it? I doubt it.

Yeah but I like how the reporters+fans like to "spice it up" by referring to figures from Greek Mythology :D.
(Imagine what they would have said had PAO lost the game though).

Greek state TV that was covering the final only bothered with the game about 10 minutes after it was over. If Olympiakos had won they would have probably been talking about it all night...

You do realise that even if he didn't step outside (which he did, it;s rather obvious too), when trying to bring the ball inbound again, the ball hit the backside of the board, right?

Again it doesn't change the fact that Perperoglou stepped outside, the one was given the other wasn't. That camera 1 meter away made it look scandalous showing his feet on the floor and still to catch the ball, and the ref next to him.
Papaloukas is not even called a regular foul!

Papaloukas got 2 fouls in seconds, not only they weren't fouls, the second was an offensive foul by Batiste.

So please tell us, PAO won because of the refs?

There is no reason in all that ref crap. The vast majority of red fans accepted the result without blaiming the refs, rather their own mentality (you may even want to check their own forum to see it's true). Sure there were the standard bad calls that went both ways, yet the outcome was not influenced by them. Oly have the chance to cap 1st spot in a week. If so the have the upper hand in the championship. If they fail they will most likely only blame themselves. Pao had a better game yesterday and they won. That's all there is to it.

I really wish we can meet Olympiakos on a Euroleague game.

This will end the refs helping PAO fairytale and will let PAO play without the refs trying to even things out.

Khalid since you seem to be really interested in greek basketball afairs, let me give you a trivial informatiom about the serbian "Midas".Long before Obradovic came to greece when he was coaching,Real,Badalona and Trevizo the great greek basketball experts used to call him Gladstone.Funnily since he arrived here he turned into the greatest coach of all time and noone dares to call him like this anymore.shows the quality of basketball reporters here

Why is that? Does Kokkalis have very strong connections with Karamanlis' government?
