PAO vs OLY in Greek Cup final

Khalid since you seem to be really interested in greek basketball afairs, let me give you a trivial informatiom about the serbian "Midas".Long before Obradovic came to greece when he was coaching,Real,Badalona and Trevizo the great greek basketball experts used to call him Gladstone.Funnily since he arrived here he turned into the greatest coach of all time and noone dares to call him like this anymore.shows the quality of basketball reporters here

Ofcourse they were calling him that.

They had to justify in some way how the great coach Ioannidis that was dominating Greece could not win a title in Europe but the young and inexperienced Obradovic was winning all the time...

Why is that? Does Kokkalis have very strong connections with Karamanlis' government?

Greek media are dominated by red journalists and krypto-reds.

As for basketball, most "objective" journalists are rooting for Olympiakos because at the moment, this would create more popularity for the sport in Greece. That's why they are widely called "masons". ;)

Ela re Jon_Koncak!
Yeah, but u can't deny that Obradovic is considered as one of the best European coaches ever since he won six Euroleague titles with four different clubs (Partizan, Joventut, Real, and PAO) and he helped former Yugoslavia win:
1) Gold Medal in both the 1997 Eurobasket in Spain
2) Gold Medal in 1998 World Championships in Greece
3) Silver Medal in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta
4) Bronze Medal in 1999 Eurobasket in France

Does this also have to do with Panathinaikos coming from the center of Athens and being considered as representing the high-class Athenian society and culture while Olympiacos coming from Piraeus, the port of Athens, representing the working class.
(I'm not saying this to insult anyone but that's how they used to describe the differences between PAO and Oly supporters by referring to social, cultural, and economic issues).

the evil anti-Oly refs made the worst non call i've seen in my life.and i'm referring to the play where perperoglou was like 1 metre outside the line and returned the ball to the court which lead to a bucket.i've never seen anythin like this before

two, two meters :D
This guy can break any record I'm sure about that! What's needed is only to renew his contract for the following 50 years. Then this great shooter of the past can reach 73 titles!

hm its not a bad idea now that you mentioned it..But i think he will accomplished that in less than 50 years.I think he will take around 20 with the rythm that PAO runs.Especially if Yannakis will stay in OLY bench:D

This is a stereotype, coming from even before the war maybe. It doesn't apply now. Both teams have equally rich and poor supporters.

Well deserved win for PAO. Hope we win next week:P This team is missing something, I dont think its only Giannakis fault. I'm not a big fan of him but what i dont like is that since he joined OLY he became a "bad" coach. He was a God (Zeus :P) back in 2005 and 2006 and now he is useless. Oh and of course those medals were won by the players not him. It always happens this here in Greece and I really hate such a way of thinking...

ps. what was that idea of putting milosevic on diamantidis? Jesus... And you dont leave this guy to shoot three 3p unattended...

Yannakis is not a bad coach.but sometimes he is lost.unfortunately for him the rivalry against PAO is not helping him at all.Harsh judgements not only from journalists and PAO or objective fans but even now from OLY fans destroy his morale and concentration. The Sunday match maybe he will help him or sunk him much deeper

I really wish we can meet Olympiakos on a Euroleague game.

This will end the refs helping PAO fairytale and will let PAO play without the refs trying to even things out.

Who doesn't?

Olympiakos - Panathinaikos = 5-1

1993-1994 Euroleague Final Four Tel Aviv semi-final: Olympiakos-PAO 77-72
1994-1995 Euroleague Final Four Zaragoza semi-final: Olympiakos-PAO 58-52
1996-1997 Euroleague quarter-finals: PAO-Olympiakos 49-69, Olympiakos-PAO 65-57
2001-2002 Euroleague Top 16: Olympiakos-PAO 92-75, PAO-Olympiakos 88-78

Wow, were you alive back in 1994? And would you care to remind us what happened in 2002, who won the title?

Offtopic now, a photo from the game. Vujcic remembers his old athletic self and clearly blocks Spanoulis, as the refs said.

The last image is of Dimitris Giannakopoulos and his wife. He is the son of Pavlos and will one day take of the Basketball Club. We will remain in good hands

Yes she is.

In regards to your question about Pargo. He was good until he made 2 consecutive errors toward the end of the 1st half and then was forgotten by Giannakis.
