UAAP Season 88

Let's not also forget that some of the league's better players ought to be playing pro by now with all the transferring.

It's weird because it's not as if guys came out of nowhere. Cabanero came from Ateneo de Cebu before bouncing around in Manila. Remogat, Figueroa, and Crisostomo all came from Adamson. Then Alarcon from UE.

There's been a massive talent pool in high school basketball since the pandemic compared to decades ago and they either didn't go to Ateneo, didn't stay long like Padrigao and Amos, or Ateneo saw potential in guys like Gamber, Gomez, Lebron Nieto, and Espinosa. Also, Celis is balling for Benilde now.

i wouldn't be surprised if ateneo banks on one and dones again for the next season. their internal development right now is non-existent.
They really mortgaged their future with these Ones and Dones, and nothing to show for it. Are there any promising prospects at all, in the Ateneo pipeline?

Team and success-wise, Mason got the last laugh against his former team, Ateneo. But no one can tell me that he would have not been a better player and contributor if he stayed at Ateneo, where he had a bigger role as a rookie btw, compared to what he has now at La Salle. Ateneo would probably be a top 2 team this season with him as a third-year player. It's unfortunate for his growth, but at the same time, it's good for him if he wanted immediate success. His reason for playing at DLSU was to play as a wing, right? Or as long as it wasn’t as a big, unlike at Ateneo. That didn’t happen, and he ended up with a much smaller role anyway.

Ateneo's weakness in defense inside the paint was so glaring that pretty much all teams took advantage of that, resulting in the team barely winning again after the initial 4-0. The lost of tall, wide bodies (Amos, Porter) contributed to that, but I still think Tab underestimated that weakness big time. Are there no other tall, wide-bodied prospects in team B that they could have lined up instead?

The Eaglets has a 6’8” Fil-Canadian Jay Leal. Recruited last summer.

This isnt the nba. Mortgaged what future?

Aside from Tuano, Espina, Bahay , maybe Bongo Sven how many of those guys can play on a good team. No matter how much you try they still are gonna be mid at full ceiling . imagine dont get escobar so they can train the next quitevis even that is pushing it.

I think they mortgaged their future on Bahay. Outbidding UP cant be cheap and they spent it on the easiest position to replace. Bahay has to be transcendent to justify the investment and he isnt yet. Meanwhile, his batchmate Pasaol is MVP.

Admu has like 10-11 players who can actually play and that includes 3 one and done guys and one FSA.

That should be enough had they not gotten hurt.
