The Junmar Fajardo Thread

true that. he was a success in just his first international tournament.

he got his 20+ points easily against the triple teams of uaap schools.

+1 on this. I just don't know what other people are saying he isn't good or he is just hype.

I think they should watch tapes and games where it involved Fajardo so they can see the potential.

Sir Manu, do you by any chance have in your archive games that has Fajardo in it? I think he also played against a china selection in CEbu teaming up with Cesafi players...I would love to see this:)

Or maybe PCCL games...:)

Thanks in advance:D

If I might add, I think UC just wants its name to be mentioned when Fajardo plays for the PBA ....."at Power Forward, from the University of CEbu, Junmar :D"the prisoner":D Fajardo!!!! --this is reason why they don't want him to graduate in another school (like Slaughter?)

Seriously, I just hope he will train with the RP team when there is no CESAFI tourney

Junmar Innternationally thenm he manhandled hong kongs front line in 2008 and led CESAFI all stars to finals:D:D You know hong kong in fiba asia:D:D

Toroman knows talent when he sees one and did not mince words when he heaped praises for this big guy. He does have a huge upside after demolishing the entire Ateneo frontline that even included Rabeh Al Hussaini last year.

Smart Sports director Patrick Gregorio and Toroman were in Cebu to scout the 19-year-old Fajardo and were impressed by his performance against Ateneo in a mini-tournament last Monday. Fajardo led the CESAFI selection to a two-point win over the Blue Eagles as he finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds. In the last minute, he blocked Ryan Buenafe and Nonoy Baclao, grabbed a crucial rebound and converted crucial free throws.

19 years old last year so he must be turning 20 or already 20 right now. A 25 pt 15 rb performance against a CHampion team in Ateneo that included the best big man in the amateur circles, that is an impressive performance !

No, Fajardo is not a hype. I am even going out of my way at this point and dare to say that he will be released to Smart Gilas next year as part of the buildup for the FIBA 2011 olympic qualifier.

Ramon Fernandez already mentioned that Junmar will be available to negotiate with Smart Gilas next year.

Slaughter prior to his transfer to Ateneo: "Smart Gilas will be priority"

August 2010: Slaughter unavailable for Smart Gilas commitment

FIBA Asia 2011: Slaughter playing in the UAAP, schedules conflict with FIBA Asia tourney, so what will he prioritize?

UC to detractors(referring to GS eventual transfer): "I told you so. I told you there were other motives"

"slaughter to play for ateneo"

...that's what money can do. it can change allegiance and forgot the pledges. it can alter priorities and can make someone foolish and liar.

this only means that he should have not joined ateneo if quality education is not part of his plans

he can always have a second degree in THE ATENEO if wants to di ba? ;) He always can enter THE ATENEO after his eligibility years in college ball expires di ba? ;)

Your hundred percent right... the motives was there,, thats why UC dont want to give JF to SG...

i believe it was still for selfish and political reasons (on UC not lending fajardo).

this time though, they were proven right with their statements.

Going to PBA at once is always the worse career choice ever for a young player who is still raw and inexperience and untested.

sometimes you cannot judge those kids, because of the last NSA.

so its really hard for this SBP and Smart Gilas to perform better and to continue the program, so these kids will have this option before jumping to the PBA.

the moment of truth is next year. we will see if ateneo will let slaughter play in fiba-asia or if slaughter will let ateneo dictate on him next year at the fiba-asia 2011. if the price for ateneo control over slaughter is a paltry $ 2,000 a year tuition, that would be almost absurd when that amount is peanuts by american standards. Alarm bells will star ringing if as early as the Asiad 2010, Slaughter will be prevented by ateneo from joining this Asiad.

It depends on the situation I guess, look at Japeth Aguilar maybe If he had played in the PBA maybe he is now a good post up player, good shot blocker, good rebounder and with an "angas" attitude. The system of coach Toroman is more on passing, catch and shoot and passing thus hindering the creativity of Pinoy player.

It will be absurd indeed if Slaughter is not able to join the team in the Asiad. December is just the start of the second semester and midterm exams are not scheduled until mid-January.

About next year, though, Ateneo has to work out something with Slaughter's professors (such as advanced/delayed exams) so that he will be able to play for the national team. I am reserving my comments until we get official word from the Ateneo administration. I am more inclined to think, though, that Slaughter will be able to play next year.

Speaking of which, I think Slaughter will be the only student in the team next year. Ramos and Sison would have graduated by then.

Slaughter has a contract with Smart Gilas so he has to play unless he has to beg off because of his studies. And his case now is different when he was with UV. Because since he signed a contract with Gilas first before transfering to Ateneo, it is Ateneo who should be adjusting to his Gilas schedule, if he is indeed playing for them.
