SBP Long-Term National Pool (Vol. XIX)

dito na magkakaalaman...

this is where we will see their true colors.. let us see how the PBA Governors react and/or defend their stand and the SBP defend and explain their program..

but for me kasi, it all boils down to the choice of the aspirant/candidate.. for example aldreich ramos.. he is a top draft prospective and one of the most versatile tall men we have.. he is offered a spot in the cadet team or whatever the team is called.. layed out the condition ala SMART GILAS I, it is still the choice of aldreich whether to sign the commitment letter/contract or not.. just like paul lee, ogie menor, rico meirhofer, et al. didn't sign with gilas despite good contracts and instead went to the PBA draft..

if it is deemed he wants to play in the PBA and just work his way up so that he will be considered for the ELITE team so be it.. let him do it and just work hard.. if he accepts and wants to prioritize serving the country first then THAT IS HIS CHOICE... we are a free country but with certain responsibilities.. but at the end of the day it is about the choice of the player.. like what the EVIL SMC PLAYERS did.. actually the SMC group is FAR WORSE than what is being said.. because we all know james yap and arwind santos WOULD LOVE to play for the national team but cannot do because we all know why... so where is the freedom there? (despite the blessings of no less than the top management of the PBA)

so that is where my stand is..

Sources that Yap and Santos wants to play for the TNT NT? ;)

Point is, these players will go where the MONEY is. You think Aldreich Ramos is not being paid to play for the Cadet? It's all "for the flag"?

yes i do understand they get paid of course.. ever since GILAS 1 i know that, but are you saying GILAS pays MORE than any other PBA team??? how do we know that? we can only find out from Marcio Lassiter, Chris Lutz, JV Casio, Mac Baracael, etc... and the last i heard before there were problems with the "salaries" of these players and i don't know if they were fully paid..

my point is if you say they play where the MONEY is then it is like saying GILAS pays more than any other PBA team.. so it really boils down to the players choice.. whatever the motivation or intention the player has, IT IS STILL HIS CHOICE AND NO ONE CAN STOP HIM FROM DOING THAT..

don't get me wrong, i do understand where the PBA teams are coming from especially now.. i would probably do the same thing as well.. but unfortunately i am not a coach nor an owner.. i am just a FILIPINO who loves basketball and wants GLORY for the Philippines and I am disgusted by the remarks of Trillo which OBVIOUSLY his father supported and will be supported eventually by Uytengsu..

The yapping and whining got the attention of the PBA Board of Governors?

PBA executives want to clarify SMART-Gilas issues with Chot Reyes

That's two teams already against the SBP "program"

Alaska, Rain or Shine.

You know which side SMC is on.

The yapping and whining is distasteful but heck the can of worms has been opened for all to see (including the commish and the PBA Board :D)

Again DT ... doctrine of clean hands please. I don't really give a rat's ass about SMC's [and their Lina group minions] opinion on the matter coz they're stinkier than an overrun septic tank. They should all STFU.

Alaska, as JPM mentioned earlier, cannot backtrack now. Their boss's past musings and attitude left little leeway for them to complain about the current situation. Though I do feel for Rain or Shine. They are lending Chan and Norwood after all. But they should also complain about the Fajardo/ABL situation to be more even-keeled yes? :p Isama mo na rin yung Lina Group SMC farm program/warehousing business tama ba? :p

As Zuma here mentioned ... it is still the player's choice at the end of the day. He can go to the ABL if he wants to, he can go to the PBA draft if he so chooses. He can enlist in the cadet pool if he so fancies. He can also choose to just get a proper corporate job if he wants to. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head here ... or is that what you are implying?

Free will. The cards are laid out in front of the player ... in the end, he chooses which dotted line to sign on. Choices choices choices. Sa PBA din naman ang uwi ng lahat ng mga iyan eh di ba?

The same way Meierhoffer chose the PBA over Gilas 1, the same way Aldrech chose to go back to school and later on the ABL, the same way Fajardo chose the ABL. The same way Pringle chose Europe.

Anyway "For The Win" just came out with another video regarding the matter. Here it is:

http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/video/123982/ftw-luigi-trillo-says-gilas-is-selfish

At any rate, the supposed "uproar" wasn't so loud during the first go around in Gilas 1 [Lutz, Lassiter, Casio, Tiu, Mac, Dylan, Barok, etc.] Where was Trillo then. As the FTW team said ... I think Trillo just got too emotional probably fearing for his job.

Philippine Basketball can stand their ground on anybody if they are all complete and healthy for the championships next year. You've got plenty of deserving and multi talented to choose from if their mother teams allows it. We all know who are the players that are part of the entire pool (Basketball team, Select team and the Cadet team).

Some countries in Asia don't have that many players they can get from their pool.

nah, he just told that for the sake of not being called as MVP's slave. Raymund Yu wants to help the national team. and that kind of statement cant be translate to a "HATE" message towards MVP.

Again, we'll see. Hopefully, no major changes with the prospective Gilas I line-up. It was off a good start.

he has nothing to lose, and he should be used to it. Remember his 0-28?

Individual basketball skills wise we are up there in the higher echelon considering those players that are members of the pool. 2013 Fiba Asia Championships might be the year that we will regain our status as the best basketball team in the Asian continent.

and a sudden change of heart DT? joke.

I wish to see a 7-game series featuring the SMC All-Star vs the MVP All-Star, and the winner will have the rights to represent the country plus he will have to lend all the players that the winner needs.

Your half-jests are so normal now i keep forgetting you kiss MVP's ass. :D JOKE.

you see, that's the thing...if the SBP does not offer them a contract/benefits then they would apply for the draft...then they get paid by their mother teams but with a contract clause stating he will still be playing for the national team. sbp saves millions, the pba teams get the players they want thru the draft, the prospective national team is still formed...boom! win-win for everyone.

i love you DT and same goes with Danding

With all these issues being brought by SBP-MVP and PBA teams, Comm. Salud seems to be hiding at his office.
Maybe trying to figure it out on how will give an aid to such issues.

PBA should impose their authority if they still want to control this league.
It's the missing link since Jun Bernardino left us.

good point KMB, but the thing here is that, that gay Commish should start the talks between PBA Teams and SBP led MVP to clarrify things ones and for all.

this is the perfect situation.. but structure wise it is a disaster...

remember that the system SBP is employing is that the PBA will compete ONLY in the FIBA Asia Championships and if ever the World competitions (with the exception of FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup) if ever.. this is easy for the PBA since these competitions fall almost the same season which is the summer seasons of the US and Europe (July to September).. whereas the cadet team will participate in the Asian Games and other SEABA tournaments which fall in different seasons..

so for example hodge and ellis join the PBA and is going to be part of the cadets team with the UAAP and NCAA standouts, how will the availability of the players look like? it would be so difficult.. remember the DEAL with the PBA players is that they will not be PULLED OUT from their mother teams EVER! ang gulo...

for me, this is a better system compared to Smart Gilas 1.. the only advantage GILAS 1 had was they were together for 3 years.. but as i have said, even without the PBA reinforcements, they still didn't have any single championship in any asian tournament..

That "clause" you allude to is so easy to circumvent making it pretty much useless. It guarantees absolutely nothing. I still feel that suiting up for one's country must be a priveledge/responsibility that comes from one's own volition, not through force of contract stipulations.

Enrico Villanueva, foibles and all, seems to be the only one solidly associated with the SMC group with the cujones big enough to give Pogi Boy Noli a big F.U. to his face. It obviously doesn't bode well for him within the organization he plays for, but he's showing loud and clear that he's no one's lackey or puppet. It doesn't change the fact that his play still kinda sucks, but I commend him for going against the grain.

:p

That is on assumption that SMC is NOT building a national team ;)

Bwahahaha ... amputah their own version of an "unofficial unrecognized National Team." Therein lies the rub. Atat na atat. They should get in line and wait their turn, and then OFFICIALLY start their program. :p

Honestly DT, you and I both are SMBeer/PBB homers, but I stop my allegiance when the politcking gets in the way. I'll be the first to admit, SMC stinks up the enire room with all their politcking.

perfectly said.. whether it is for the money or for the privilege for national cause.. it is the CHOICE of the player and no one can take that away from them..

because quite frankly what luigi trillo and the others have been alarmed is like this.. "hey i am going to get these talents and you are preventing them from being acquired by us..." .... what if it is the choice of the player (manuel, hodge, ellis, etc..) to play for the national team first and forego the PBA... it is their choice..

now i amstarting to think alaska is intentionally losing which is a BIGGER CRIME!!!

Loading and reloading while waiting their turn. Now, that's what you call a "long-term" project! :D
