Halftime USA-Sen 58-25, all 12 American players have scored, Moore and Taurasi ad the top with 9 & 8 pts.
In another surprise, China lost with Canada and is 99.9% out.

In their narrow loss to Brazil, Mali outrebounded the South Americans 46-28

Greek ace Maltsi was today the shadow of herself, 10 pts and 28.6% FG

To follow tomorrow an interesting clash between the strongest offense (USA) and the toughest defense (France)

South Korean forward Park Jeong has had a torn mesicus cartilage on her right knee suffered after a game against Spain, after an X-ray and MRI test. :(

Anyone having a live stream link for tomorrow's game between USA & France?

US leading 36-29 at halftime after a slow start. France keeps finding baskets at the end of the shot clock or on offensive rebounds whenever it looks like the US is pulling away.

I am watching my first game of this WC'10! USA is just too much for the European Champion, what a big difference. French players can't hit shots when they execute a little bit faster, on the other hand I'm enjoying Maya Moore, college player :D

Wild ending in Korea-Mali...Tied at 62 the Korean player throws up a 30-footer at the buzzer, the ref who is right there calls a foul, but after some discussion we go to overtime...Korea turned the ball over about 20 times in the fourth quarter to let Mali come back.

I think a four-point win would give Mali the tiebreaker over Korea in a three-way tie, if they win by less than four then they need Brazil to win.

Mali had the ball down 68-66 with 22 seconds left in overtime, so naturally their PG waits 40 feet from the basket for 18 seconds and then dribbles off her foot and out of bounds. Not a well-played game but exciting.

After a strong second half USA wins over France 81-60. Good shooting and rebounding by the Americans, but still too many turnovers. Finally Dee Taurasi in double digit scoring and Moore a true allround player, she's the top at non-pro level.
France confirms as a good defensive team.

Surprise, after the prelim round the best USA Team scorer is Candice Dupree with 12PPG and an excellent 84.2%FG. McCoughtry, Charles, Cash, Moore and Taurasi follow, also averaging in double digits. Top US rebounder is Moore (5.3RPG) and best in assists Bird & Moore, while McCoughtry has collected as many as 10 steals.

Maltsi is like the female version of Ray Allen, she is automatic every time she gets room for a shot. She has 4.7/8 3-pointers per game with a ridiculous for such volume shooting 58%, also leads the tournament in scoring. Struggles though when the defense is tight, like it was in the game against France.

In the first day of the Eights the 4 bigs are all winning.
Australian team seems the most convincing, Cambage seems surprisingly mature for her age (was at the U19 Fiba World last year).
USA rolled over Canada showing good defense and balance attack but was very poor in the 3pts shooting (2 on 15). All US women scored except Appel.
Russia easily beat a weak Brazilian team. Seen on TV, Russia has big players who can rebound and score but is nothing special.
Spain seems to take most advantage from the big Sancho Lyttle and is going full steam, waiting for the clash with Russia on Wednesday.

Spain seems to take most advantage from the big Sancho Lyttle and is going full steam, waiting for the clash with Russia on Wednesday.

If Spain is able to compete with the traditional top three, will we see all the other second-tier teams fielding import centers next year?

St. Vincent could have had a nice Caribbean team with Little and Sophia Young.

Mediocre showing by the US today but fortunately Canada has no offense. Fowles (who has not been good) went for a dunk on the fast break but she took about five steps and then missed it anyway after the whistle.

Bald

Bald

Why o why Ishikawa shaved her head. :(

I can't watch the games sadly, but are there women there that have shaved their heads?

Watched Brazil overcoming Japan in the O.T., a really breathtaking game. Heroes of the day Silvia Gustavo who equalized the score with a shot behind the arc one second from the end of regulation time and Iziane Castro again with a big three in the overtime, twelve seconds to go and giving Brazil the lead for good.
Honor to Japan, they led for long periods and could have been the winner as well.

France team continues to surprise, despite missing some key players. With their tightly organised defense today French women were close to the heavily favorites Opals who won thanks to their great individualities (Jackson, Taylor).
