Philippine Under-16 team!

the tolentino guy? the 25pts 28rebs guy?

dude the tolentino guy does have some hops..
and looks to be that he can play either 2 or 3..
but with the team hes position would probably be 5..
but i would love to see him develop more of his dribbling and slashing..,
coz hes lean and has a long wingspan..

Tolentino played "4" most of the time yesterday as he was paired up with either Babilonia (also with the U-16 Team) or Bonsubre who manned the slot. But he can be effective "3" with the U-16 Team with his decent ball handling and shooting.

How tall is this kid and how old? He sounds very versatile.

6'3"/6'4". Plays the power forward spot for the Red Cubs/Under-16 Youth team. Good post up moves (either facing the basket or back to the basket), can dribble the ball like a small forward and has a reliable jumper from 15 feet and beyond. Easily the best skilled big man in this youth squad.

no. and its not even close.

sadly..the height and the talent of the previous under 16 is uncomparable to the current team..
but still they showed heart during their game with the sbc jrs..
i hope that the under 16 will have those fil-ams who are reportedly stands around 6-2 to 6-4...

Height? The current U-16 team is slightly taller than the previous one (6'2 was the tallest).

I remember one song..

oh think twice:cool: think twice;)

okay maybe Kiefer is better than all players this batch but saying no one comes close thats hype thats why we are 5th in last u18:rolleyes:

Rookie coach Racela upbeat on PHL youth cagers' chances
06/14/2011 | 09:01 PM

The Philippines-Energen Under-16 boys basketball team is banking on its United States training in strengthening its chances in two major Asian tournaments this year.

National coach Olsen Racela said the US training in Indianapolis under renowned high school coach Ed Schilling helped build the players’ confidence. During the training, the team competed against high-caliber American players.

“We won a game and we lost one also," said Racela in Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum. “But it was a good experience for the boys. It was the first time they played against high quality players."

After the Indianapolis training, the team participated in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Preseason Premier Cup where it finished second behind San Beda.

The PHL Under-16 team will be competing in the SEABA Under-16 Championship in September in Jakarta where two slots are available for the FIBA Asia Junior Men’s Championship set in October in Vietnam.

“I don’t know the competition, but I know that SEABA will be a lesser level of competition. I wouldn’t say we will have an easier time, but of course, we want to win the tournament. In FIBA Asia, mas mataas na level na ‘yun because China, Korea and the others will be there," said Racela, who was joined at the forum by team manager Joel Lopa.

Racela believes the Philippines stands a good chance of having a respectable finish in the FIBA Asia tournament.

“Malaki ang chance natin if the players just believe in the system. I’m very positive about this team," said Racela, who hopes to at least equal the fourth-place finish of the Nokia Under-16 team handled by Eric Altamirano in 2009. - Reuben Terrado/RCJ/ GMA News

Having unheralded players, almost everything about this team is happening under our noses.
