I know they'll be the point, what I mean is wouldn't trading Cortez be contrary to what Franz was saying that they need a solid vet PG during his pursuit of Cortez. Air21 is looking like a Dlsu alumni team. Who's next Gaco and Arana? lol Jun Cabatu might as well be in the PBA next year.

The Cortez-Cardona trade is funny as hell. 1st becuase coach RG said they traded away @M3rcMyWords (sol) to give the reins @cmross6.

2nd Air21 is saying they need a good 2 and Cardona is dispensable for Meralco kasi Wilson is playing well. San nga ba galing si Wilson? haha

3rd: we thot Pumaren loved "collecting" former Archers to his fold. why trade Cortez? hehehe

I dont know why Lito Alvarez still has his job.

You know if these PBA teams cant sustain a basketball team in the PBA due to Financial problems, they should just step out.

They are gaining negative press over PBA fans with being a farm team.

But gaining big bucks. That is Alvarez's job.

PBA should make a rule that you cannot trade your first round pick in consecutive years. I am sick and tired of seeing Petron and San Mig getting top picks all the time

True. Will it pass the Board of Governors though? SMC bloc will block it; Their two and half bitches will block it. Even MVP might block it. So the real problem are the scrupolous owners. Unless they are stopped then teams will just find a way to bend the rules.

If Air21 is going to do a trading spree, I hope they just collect former archers to atleast make it interesting.

Cortez\Atkins
Yeo\Arana\Ritualo
Cardona
Maierhofer\Wilson
Sharma\Gaco

I think Air21 is panicking or just plain stupid or as others say Smc's bitch. I mean they got Cortez which Franz was so keen on getting and then trading him again for Cardona. If this pushes thru who will play the point then? .

Well another trade then.

Does that compensate running the whole basketball team?

different teams have different reasons on joining the PBA...some are there to win it... some are just there to gain brand exposure (and earn money)....with the dealings air21 and barako are doing, they're always in the news (even if its bad publicity, its still publicity)...

trade for Yeo, Raymundo

Petron's Joseph Yeo is now being eyed to go to Air21 in a straight swap for Nerbert Omolon. Jerome Ascano
THE three-team trade transaction involving the Ai 21 Express and two San Miguel Corporation teams has already been "agreed upon in principle," sources said, with a few revisions.

Under the new terms of the deal, Air21 will get high-scoring off-guard Joseph Yeo from Petron for wingman Nelbert Omolon in a straight swap then acquire Kerby Raymundo from Barangay Ginebra in exchange for big man James Sena and the Express' first-round pick in 2014.

The transaction, slightly tweaked from the terms first broached over the weekend and reported by Spin.ph on Monday, may reach the Commissioner's Office for approval as early as Wednesday, sources said.

“Pinabago - naghahanap kami ng mas bagay. Medyo parang kulang yung makukuha namin sa Air 21,” said a source from the San Miguel group which asked not to be named.

One major stumbling block to the trade was cleared, sources said, when SMC big boss Ramon S. Ang, who is reportedly close to the Yeo family, approved the trade.

“Pumayag na daw si Boss (Ramon S. Ang) na i-release si Joseph,” said the source. “Nilabas na yung agreement. Pinapipirmahan na.”

The deal will be the first of two major transactions that the Bert Lina franchise will make within the week as Air21 looks to address two areas where it is weakest - the off-guard position and its frontline.

The Meralco Bolts are also in negotiations with team governor Lito Alvarez for a one-on-one swap that will involve former Dela Salle Green Archers stars Mark Cardona and Mike Cortez.

(For full story, see*Source: Air21 also in talks with Meralco for possible Cardona-Cortez swap)

Attempts by Spin.ph to contact Alvarez on Tuesday failed.

BGSM getting a 1st rounder and Sena for Kerby. I'd judge that after next season. What if Air21 makes strides. Then bye top pick. Bye BRP.

So its Petron receiving Omolon and not Canaleta.

Cardona and Yeo will have a reunion at Air21. Add to that Atkins, Ritualo and Sharma. First five na. Animo Express!

Atkins must be excited that Cortez will be traded. He will move to third string point guard. Before Arboleda and Custodio

Whose next to be traded to express besides possibly cardona? Rico maierhoffer?

Franz should also get Manny Ramos and Adonis Sta.Maria ;)

goodness gracious. its like DLSU having a pba team.hahaha. i hope barako bull recruits more ateneans. that we good for both teams and to the pba to have more fans. they can compete with the DLSU vs ADMU of UAAP. more gate attendance. :D

The Maliksi trade to San Mig Coffee really sickens me & I really can't understand how the Commissioner's office had approved such a lop sided trade. Sorry, I'm not a regular visitor in this thread. I think this is the 1st time to post here.

Imagine a player in a caliber of Maliksi being traded by Barako Bull in exchange for bench-warmers like Wesley Gonzales & Chris Pacana. Of course, Maliksi isn't a James Yap or a Mark Caguioa. Not yet. But I strongly believe this guy has the makings of a future PBA superstar. And when I say future, I'm talking about 2 to 3 years from now. Maliksi is a promising player who is only in his mid-20's. In 2 to 3 years, he will reach his peak & would most likely be in the same mold as a James Yap, Caguioa, Cyrus Baguio or a Garry David. Maliksi has the makings of a franchise player. How could Barako Bull trade a player of such caliber in exchange for 2 players who had hardly made any impact in the league & aren't that young anymore, unless there was some monetary considerations?

And that monetary consideration stinks!

Well, the Barako/Red Bull franchise has the history of having been involved in such lop sided & controversial trades in the past. I remember how the successful Red Bull team in the 2000's just "gave away" its marque players until wala nang natira sa team. Imagine the likes of Willie Miller, Enrico Villanueva, Lordy Tugade, Junthy Valenzuela, Cyrus Baguio, Larry Fonacier having played for that franchise & were instrumental in Red Bull's successful campaign in the mid-2000's. But all of those players, isa-isang "pinamigay" in a series of "stupid" trades that the franchise had ventured in the past years.

I felt "panghihinayang" for Maliksi. I thought he has already found a home in Barako Bull. I thought playing for Barako will be his big chance to blossom into a PBA superstar because wala syang kaagaw sa position nya. Now that he's with San Mig Coffee, what opportunity to blossom does he have playing behind the shadow of a James Yap who plays the same position & is arguably San Mig Coffee's resident superstar?

My suggestion for Air-21 as they look forward for the "future" of their team:

Trade their 2013, 2014 (or maybe they've already traded them), 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022 draft picks in exchange for Asi Taulava, Garry David, Jimmy Alapag, Raffy Reavis, Jayjay Helterbrand, Alex Crisano, Mick Penisi, Enrico Villanueva, & Mark Caguioa.

What a way to prepare for the future! :p

Nobody is surprised. This is SMC we are talking about.

A balance league- When can we ever see that?

A balance league- When can we ever see that?

Actually, my interest to follow PBA was somewhat rekindled by the recent Gilas Pilipinas' silver medal finish. But after such "stupid" trades, parang nawalan na naman ako ng gana. Of course like most of us here, I would want to see a "balance" competition among PBA teams. I would want "weak" teams like Air-21 & Barako Bull to get stronger so that they will be able to compete vs. the likes of Talk n Text, Rain or Shine or Petron (I believe Petron will do good this conference). In this way, games will be more exciting & unpredictable. Hindi yung pagnaglaro ang Air-21 vs. Talk n Text, at the back of our minds eh, ay sigurado nang talo ang Air-21 dyan.

Ang nangyayari eh, the strong teams get even stronger & the weaker ones get even weaker.

That's the same sentiments my basketball fanatic friends also feel.
