There’s a dog at the gas station. While the other will comeback home. Van damme will go global while struggling player will find a new home.

Trade will involve one superstar, one double double cager, one hard knock center, one up and coming guard, one 1st
round pick and one 2nd rd

Doug Kramer?who else?

I think this is related to the david trade...part 2...

Snow's name actually came up in training camps, the guy had such a strong reputation of being super quick on writing anything on the latest rumors etc. So basically management and coaches were fed up with his ways, so what they did is they planted false information. (basically to weed out where the leaks were coming from) then instantly this guy Snow , comes out with a news article, he verifies some things, which actually had nothing to do with it (such as an executive being in Indonesia) , who just happened to be there but nothing related to basketball, the result - Kuryente ! Basically I'd be wary of what the guys writes, yes a lot of them are true, but a lot of them are not as well

Gary David has been in the rumor mill for a while. My guest is this is coming directly from GlobalPort to make it a bidding war.

I want him to go to Barako Bull, It will make them look like the Brooklyn nets

Too bad if he plays well, he, together with monfort will be shipped to the highest bidder.....

No one did. What Insulares and I were pointing out, assuming you read it well, was the difference between the silvers of these two teams and how these came across differently among fans. No one was putting down the effort of one to lift the other.

Thanks for clearing that up for him. Sometimes, keyboard-happy fingers need to be balanced by reading comprehension. As Nardy said, we're proud of both (and all) NTs that fought for the country. That said, it's fine to make comparisons about the respective settings without making sweeping statements about whose team was better.

With the passage of time, we sometimes tend to remember more recent events better than those that have receded more into history. The 2013 experience is still very fresh, and the presence of better broadcasting accoutrements (multiple and sharper camera angles, etc.) along with a host of YouTube uploads certainly doesn't hurt.

But there's no denying your point that the expectations back in 1990 were impossibly high, which made the attainment of silver a monumental accomplishment given what Jaworski had to work with. Count 'em - two weeks. Now that's the "mother-of-all" (sorry to use a 90s Saddam Hussein expression) Band Aid preparations. The ultimate pick-up team.

Again, we're just comparing the two settings of two different times. And we also contrasted divergent public sentiment (a generational difference, as you correctly pointed out) for two tourneys that are 23 years apart but yielded a similar silver lining.

Both gave us moments of elation and a good measure of national pride given their respective contexts. And that's all that really matters.

Latest rumor:

Meralco gets Kerby Raymundo and Global Port's 2014 first round pick

Ginebra gets Gary David

Global Port gets Cliff Hodge and Ginebra's 2013 2nd rd pick

Proposal already at Commissioner's Office

Source: Danny Espiritu

Can David and Caguioa co-exist? (plus Helterbrand) :D

then if this deal push thru ato will have more problems... no more plays only one on one by david ang caguioa...

then atleast theres a chance that david will not be included in gilas because he will be under SMC umbrella... :)

Why would GP part ways with David and their first pick in 2014 only to get Cliff Hodge and Ginebra's 2013 second round pick?

I think this is a better trade in terms of what GP (minority) gets, unlike what happened with the Barako Bull trade. Gary D wasn't performing as well as during his powerade days this season. I don't know if its age or the injuries he had (missed some games during the all filipino) but his game has declined. I think the system of Junel B also does not concentrate heavily on Gary unlike Bo Perasol's that's why he shone. GP gets a quality 3-4 man in Hodge who does the dirty work and gives you bonus points. I also think Hodge has some more upside and can improve. Meralco gets another vet who has a year or two more based on what he showed in the Com Cup plus a 1st round pick which could be a top 3 pick for the future. I also think that what prompted Meralco to let go of Hodge is he is a tweener for now, too thin to play 4 and too slow to play 3 plus they are expecting Dillinger to be their 3 guy and Mac Mac to be their 2 or the other way around.

I get that - David is at the twilight of his career so trading him for Cliff Hodge will pretty much even out. A straight trade would have been understandable.

I'm puzzled though with GP's first round pick for 2014. Why would Batang Pier give that up - and considering their performance lately, that would be at least a Top 5 pick two drafts from now? Shouldn't that have merited a Mark Cardona or even a Josh Vanlandingham in return?

The obvious winner in this three-team trade yarn appears to be Meralco. They got the big man Ryan Gregorio badly wanted plus a shot at a Top 5 pick in 2014. The biggest loser? Asi Taulava! :)

marvin espiritu ‏@marvinespiritu

Someone has used the name of well respected agent Danny Espiritu to hype the trade between Ginebra, G.port, Meralco. No basis. Not true.

with Caguiao, Tenorio, Helterbrand, Ellis, Baracael, Urbiztondo, Ababou what Ginebra needs is not another scorer or shooter.

What the barangay needs is a Center or Power Forward in lieu of Kerby. Japeth needs a front court partner who could provide the toughness which he lacks. Currently after the nearing retirement Billy Mamaril, its the undersized Willy Wilson and Mac Baracael who will man the front court with Japeth and Ginebra's import.

Or can we speculate there might be a below the table deal involving rights to Asi? What do you think. Or A return of Major Pain?

I think SMC wants to give their coaches a lot of headache... how will you give minutes to all this players?

Gary D. struggles on a halfcourt system that Baculi has. He needs to be in a team that is run and gun. Just like when Perasol was in Powerade.
