its too much physical out there,it so ugly to watch its like tnt playing wrestling whenever smb goes inside they will bang them hard, and the bangs are too much.. there is even a bang with a kick by ali peek but foul was not called.this not the way it should be!tnt also is challenging shots of smb inside physically when the player is in the air..im not an smb fan though!

I think the physicality was not only with TNT. Both of the team are doing their physical game to survive, but I think the ball movement of the TNT was quite well compare to SMB. Good win by the TNT

SMB fan here. i thought the game showed how San Miguel lacks tough players from 1 to 5 (well except for Pena, who's virtually ineffective and probably Pennissi, who camps out too much on the perimeter on offense...) TNT meanwhile knew how to mix it up meaning if the outside shots were not falling they had players who was attacking the boards and/or penetrating.

Despite the SMB loss, i still LOVE these rules. Consistency from the refs will always be questioned but ultimately its how players adjust to these calls. Plus of course we go back to players being innately tough...

Sunday Salvacion is currently leading the PBA in Scoring. It's nice to see the Barako Bull winning their first game of the Season.

I believe gary david is the leading scorer. maybe salvacion comes ina t 2nd.. but it doesnt really matter :p

Anyway, barako has improved tremendously in defense. They have their poor version of bmeg's sampayan brigade in isip, thiele and andaya.. I've also noticed how they use gang rebounding and some intangibles like tapping the ball to their teamates to get the rebound. They also have good wing defenders in wainwright, juntilla and salvacion. Lastly, men how awesome was andaya on defense.. he had 6 blocks in their first game and at least 3 blocks in this game.

But the real question is: Can they keep up their energy when facing a more powerhouse teams like smb and tnt. I guess we just have to wait and see.

Their main weakness obviously, is offense. But hey if they can play hard defense like what they did vs meralco.. maybe they have a good chance of pulling another upset.

Give credit to where credit is due and at 1-1 Barako needs all the credit it can get because we might not be talking about them again (well, in a positive way) in the next few weeks.

The win against Meralco was a bit of a fluke in my opinion as i think they will still battle for the league's worst record by the end of the conference--- it's between them and Powerade actually. i am at a loss which is worse when pitted against each other.

well if you think it was a fluke then that's your opinion.. I just hope you've watched the game especially in the 2nd half before you say things like that.

They have a good chance against powerade next sunday so I believe we can still talk about them in weeks to come

Yes it's a matter of time before we realize why they are the bottomfeeders of the league for the past years (and well, years to come). i should say however that the front court is much improved, maybe not with their skills but with their effort, but its on offense that i think they will eventually falter as teams and their defense start taking this Barako team seriously. But again, credit where credit is due--- the first half vs. the Aces and the second half vs. Bolts was a superb effort especially for a rag-tag team of role players and whatnot.

ditto with renren and gary but the problem is athough renren still has the shooting touch we know other aspects of his games seems not there or motivated to do anaymore he is a small 2 yet the bigger 2 guards are still quicker than him and his endurance dali na rin nyang mapagod not only his lack of strength in his air 21 days the 1st stint it was compensated with energy and motivation after the tnt stint and yes the 2007 nt stint he is not the same anymore. Although I notice you have soft spot on shooters:D kasi talagang bihira yun mga ganun

boy maybe Jai is steadier but who are his competitors in the spot they are all not natural point gurads Jai is the closest because in Ateneo he is forced to play point by Norman. Kaya alam niya yun free will basketball.

BGK played steady last game but for how long the 4 back court guys of bgk will swallow their egos day in and day out as 2 or one of them might have to sit out the crucial moments in every single game

Weh, di nga?? Joke..:D really?? Didn't notice that.. Maybe because I'm a shooter as well..:D:D:D

IMO if barako wants to win more games they need another scorer to help salvacion, just my 2 cents...

big mac andaya, a late addition to the team, currently leads the league in blocked shots with 4.5 blocks a game...6 blocks vs alaska, 3 blocks vs meralco...

and he leads in salutes, too! lol

but more importantly, he's leading the league in the contest, Mr. PBA! lol

Andaya gives a whole new meaning to the word INTIMIDATION..:D:D:D:D:D

San Miguel "softies" :D. The new rules actually favor teams who move the ball more. Teams would now be more creative in their offense as isos won't as effective as in the past seasons. It is imperative to have a shooting touch from the outside.

Good one but here's a better one: SAN MIG LIGHT. ;)

I'm anticipating the B-MEG and Alaska game on Wednesday. With the return of Adducul and the debut game of Jerwin Gaco as a Llamado, they will have a better chance to match-up with the big and tall Aces.

Key match-up would be Jonas Villanueva vs. LA Tenorio. I'll keep an eye on this one. ;)

will alaska have a rematch vs bmeg after this game, in the 2nd round, that is?
i'd like to see how eman would match up against reavis and espiritu against pingris.

Gallent must make Jonas his starting PG. Think about the future, Roger is good but they better invest minutes on Villanueva.
