News for the 2006/2007 season

Charitopoulos might be getting some decent PT this year. He had an ok last season.

thanks, Trifilli.
I can't understand only one thing - why Aris let Padius move to second-rate Russian team?

aris wanted him.he had personal problems and left.his wife was pregnant last year and lost the baby a few days after it was born.now that she is pregnant again she wanted to stay in russia and not live to anoyher country.so he had to leave aris!

Here's the roster so far (hope I made no mistake :p):

Position / Name / Height / Nationality / Year of Birth / Former Club

PG Terrel Castle 1.82m, BIH-USA, 1972, EWE Baskets Oldenburg
PG Giorgos Kalaitzis 1.95m, GRE, 1976, Panathinaikos
PG/SG Spyros Panteliadis 1.90m, GRE, 1977, AEK
G Dimitris Tsaldaris 1.94m, GRE, 1980, Panellinios
G Nikos Orfanos 1.90m, GRE, 1982, - (?)
G/F Giorgos Sigalas 2.00m, GRE, 1971, Panionios
G/F Vlado Petrovic 1.99m, GRE-SCG, 1977, Montepaschi Siena
G/F Simonas Serapinas 1.97m, LTU, 1982, Zalgiris
PF Mike Wilkinson 2.04m, FYROM-USA, 1981, Wisconsin Badgers
PF Dimitris Charitopoulos 2.07m, GRE, 1983, -
PF Panagiotis Karavanas 2.10m, GRE, 1984, Ilysiakos
PF/C Kevin Fletcher 2.07m, FYROM-USA, 1980, Slask Wroclaw

Made a question mark behind Orfanos as I don't know if he'll stay. I also don't know what's up with Asimakopoulos but I don't think that he'll be on the roster for next season. Players like Orfanos (if he stays), Charitopoulos and Karavanas will only see very limited playtime anyways, especially in the Euroleague.

You can add Gre-Swe to Charitopoulos nationality and previous club would be Malbas ;)

Where will Corey Brewer play? Destination Panathinaikos or he has already found a team?

Panellinios signed Dragan Ceranic who played for Asvel Villeurbanne and GS Larissa last season. Pete Mickeal seems to wait for a chance in the NBA and in case that he can't be signed (Panellinios will wait some more days) Larry Stewart from Olympia Larissa could be signed instead.

Vlado Petrovic won't be on Aris roster for next season.

Panionios seems to be interested in signing Nikos Hatzis from Olympiakos.

Ceranic can be a decent addition to Panellinios - he is slow and even on his best day looks out of shape, but can score inside; with a versatile PF he can be a good center for them. But needs a lot of touches to be happy and he is a kind of guy who's offence will help them be productive in other areas of game - if he will have a problems on offensive end, he will be frustrated and won't be a factor...
I don't see Mickeal going to NBA... but I also have a problem to see his co-existing with "Mula" at the same team, it could be interesting :).

my first post here. nice to find you
pg:castle, kalaitzis, panteliadis
sg:tsaldaris
sf:serapinas, sigalas,
pf:massei, ouilkinson, haritopoulos
c:giannoulis, fletcher
this is aris roster till now. fletcher needs something to be finalised with his fyrom passport so aris can announce him but the deal is done for a month now.

Some more news and rumors from the A1:

Aris doesn't want to pay Charitopoulos the 125k per season he has in his contract and offered the player a contract with reduced salary. It's quite possible that Charitopoulos will leave the team, according to greek sport sites PAOK and Maroussi are interested in signing him.

Panionios wants to do the same with Savvas Iliadis, same situation there, it's very likely that he'll leave the club, PAOK and Aris are interested in signing him.

Panellinios is close to Michalis Pelekanos, the club from Kypseli offered a contract worth 200k per season to Pelekanos, who asks for 250k... quite possible though that both sides will agree.

Nikos Orfanos won't be on Aris roster for next season, AEL-GS Larissa seems to be interested and might sign him.

Maroussi wants to loan Seibutis from Olympiakos and also made an offer to Danya Abrams (180k) who played for Apollon Patron last season, Abrams seems to want more money though.

PAOK wants to bring back Damir Mulaomerovic to Saloniki - will be interesting to see if the club has the money to sign him after the structure of the club changed this summer.

Panionios is still close to Nikos Hatzis but there are also thoughts about Giorgos Diamantopoulos returning to Nea Smyrni. The club is also said to be interested in Ivan Koljevic (Olympiakos last season) and Vladislav Dragojlovic from Red Star.

It is official now, Panionios signed Vladislav Dragojlovic from Red Star Belgrade. In addition to that they also signed Tomislav Tomovic (G/1.95m) from Bosna, both players were announced on the clubs official site.

Panellinios signed Michalis Pelekanos from AEK, Nikos Argyropoulos from Olympiakos (already announced here ) and Giannis Georgalis from Apollon Patron.

Panellinios signed Sotiris Karapostolou from Makedonikos.

Aigaleo signed Keydren Clark from St. Peters.

Panionios is said to be interested in Vangelis Sklavos (former Pamesa) and Lazaros Agadakos (former Olympiakos).

Damir Mulaomerovic seems to be very close to sign again with PAOK. Efthimios Rentzias is also said to be close to the team from Saloniki.

Wow, Steve Burtt Jr, will have a rival for the title of best scorer in A1 - Keydren Clark is one-person scoring machine... of small caliber I should add, since he is only about 5'9-5'10. He spent full 4 years at St. Peter's University, averaging there: 24.9 PPG (freshman season), 26.7 PPG (sophmore season), 25.8 (junior season) and 26.3 PPG (senior season). He always also had more than 4 assists per game, but also never did have better FG than 41.5 %.

wouldn't mulaomerovic be a nice addition to pao? better than the names that i hear anyway...

somebody please shoot me!!!

He was a little more than average 5 years ago.

If he was good enough he would have has his contract renewed.

Anyway. In order for Mula to play well he must take 50%-60% of attempts.

lol:D

It is just a thought. I think he played pretty well for paok and panellinios and i prefer him to the crap names that i constandly hear. we are in a desperate situation right now. Of course in pao he wouldn't be allowed to take more than 5 shots. I know of course he is not in the euroleague title contender level but still...

panionios signed nikos hatzis!great signing!
now they are close to agadakos and sklavos!the big target is gliniadakis!

Panionios officially announced Nikos Hatzis (here).

PAOK is interested in Blagota Sekulic, Giannis Kalambokis and Danya Abrams besides Mulaomerovic and Rentzias.

AEL-GS Larissa signed Nikos Orfanos from Aris.

Aigaleo signed the 2nd US player: Rashad Anderson from the Connecticut Huskies.

Olympia Larissa signed Mirza Kurtovic from Iraklis and is close to former Aris player Ante Grgurevic.

a rumour...(?)

Kukoc is interested in joining Panathinaikos...(!)
