why cant gilas hire a shooting coach

Does any local team have a shooting coach? Seems all our teams are content with its shooting. It would make sense especially for youth teams to invest in a good speed/athleticism coach and a good shooting coach. A team full of 3-and-D players is tough.

DLSU during Juno Sauler's time. Allan Caidic was part of the coaching staff

saw the 15-man sbu team who went abroad. the rookies include jomel puno and yuri escueta’s four recruits (dimaculangan, nygel gonzales, john lopez & shooting big man inigo torres).

im skeptical though if they keep tagala and tagle for season 99 considering a few fil-foreigners will work out with the red lions

From TMLRS FB.
"Jopia,Visser,Cuntapa,yGallego
Alfaro,Royo,Andrada,,Cortez,Puno, Payosing, Lopez,Gonzales,Torres, Tagle,Tagala, Dimaculangan and the Coaches left late morning today for California USA.

Hindi nakasama yung mga umalis. Sayang.
Be safe and all the best Red Lions!
Animo San Beda."

16 RL are included. No Jalbuena and Llarena.
Doctirs just removed Cyrus right arm cast a week ago. Jalbuena's exclusion meanwhile is up for speculation. He stays and is.enrolled in SBU though.

I heard Mina is a walk-on. Please correct me. Its mind boggling they accepted him in since he plays similarly like RC Calimag and Bryan Sajonia, who are both coach Yuri recruits. Plus you have the rumored 6’3 combo guard from overseas.

For me Jalbuena looks soft. A finesse type who is mostly 4 and can slide to 3. But with the addition to Team B of more physical and blue collar forwards Etulle, Soncuya, Ronrei Tolentino and Red Cub Mundas will make it hard for Jalbuena to make Team A.

Lecciones needs more seasoning in Team B.

Yes, Mina is a walk on. Meng knew before he started training that he wont be part of s99.

Nothing personal against Dmac but he aint mentally ready. He is a step slow and Alloso is better than at this point.

The 6'3 combo guard can really play. He will have alot of highlights tigether with jacob, jomel, and nygel.

Jopia has REALLY IMPROVED his footwork, would be a two way force come season 99.

Jalalon has definetly made strides but what coach charles likes about him is his relentless D, expecting him to make season 99 as the 3rd pg. Ladis didnt make the davao trip, tho mara has already displaced him as the backup big. Dont think Serrano and morales are ready for team A for season 99 but 1 might make it to the lineup.

so si Jopia special na?

I mean compared to other ncaa teams who mostly rely on outdated systems, sbu is still one of the best and innovative teams in the league. Coaching staff is top notch, you have guys willing to buy into the system and boosters willing to do anything for the team what more can you ask. One of the reason this team has been dominant for so long, granted that circumstances have changed the landscaped of the league and other teams are catching up, i still see this beda team, not only a f4 team but a finals contender along with benilde. Teams like perps, mapua and lyceum may have the personnel, while letran may have the experience, but san beda still has the advantage when it comes to coaching. Is the coaching perfect, nope thats why getting norman black is prolly the best move they would do for season 99.

confused: you say beda has the coaching advantage but you want the head coach replaced?

Never said i want him replaced, you must have confused me with someone else here and never said that yuri should be replaced as HC. You do know that MVP teams are fond of using consultants right?

Among the MVP supported teams, SBU has the most inexeprience coaches. As a member here pointed out, Yuri and Andre are OJT coaches.

From the start, I feel SBU should have gotten someone with better credentials say Louie Alas or even Jolas.

Now SBU is stuck with a Jamike 2.0. SBU is talented enough to make it to the F4 though but wont win a championship with CYE.

And Bedans should also not get their hopes up about RL getting the commitment of yhe filams they are in contact with. Its too late in the game. A lot of us based fil coaches i know just gave a smirk about RL getting prospects. They said prospects this late have already committed somewhere else because they wont play the waitung game. If the origunal US training schedule in july just pushed thru maybe SBU had a chance but now they would be extremely lucky to bag one filam and a rare hat trick if they cound get two.
Too late in the game Red Lions Team officuals you are just too late in the game

Ouch. That 6'3 guard would be a game changer. Oh well, it looks like the management has been too comfortable with riding with is success in the past that it refused to adapt and evolve.

Hope that noise re: NB is true. Bring back Mukesh Advani!

Time to replace Jude Roque. This dude has been sleeping on the job for the last 6 years and has failed to recruit blue chip players except for the transferees this year who will be eligible next season. It's unfortunate that CBF was the sacrificial lamb for Jude Roque's failure to recruit and prepare for an all-filipino NCAA league. His poor work ethic and passive attitude has no place in the Red Lions.
