The problem with us (spanish supporters) is that here are not the numbers of fans in relation of the cuality of our NT (even in this eurocup).
An example:
Yesterday after the game i meet some friends and i ask for the game. And all of them said...that's ok but, did you see the football match?.

Yes, that is the problem, football is too dominant in spain.

thats the thing that made me hate football , i'm delighted that turkey is not going to participate next world cup.

the bitter thing is , majority of those people think basketball is boring , and they are kind of people that would cheer at every bucket like their team have just scored a goal


by the way : 3 more votes for turkey and 10 more votes for spain , then it will be the match result , close the damn poll

No. In Spain is 1st Futbol, 2nd Futbol, 3rd Tenis (when plays nadal), 4rd F1 (Alonso fever), 5 Basket. That is the sad reality.

I was a big fan of Spain at last year's Olympics. However, despite having most of the players back, this team does look a bit weaker. Spain's had to go another coaching change and I think it's hurting them big time at this year's tourney. They used to be an up tempo team, but this coach has slowed them down a bit which is a huge mistake. If they can only get back to a running game, the players can use their naturely quickness to better effect. I also feel it's a mistake to have both Gasol Bro's in at the same time. They both feel better being outright center's instead of one of them being switched to power forward. They look like thy're taking up too much space and get into each other's way, rather than working well together.
After this tourney, Spain's got to think about changing their lineup a bit. Some of the vets have actually hurt their team than help it with their sporatic play. However, as great Gabajosa was in the past, he just does'nt look like he's one of the 12th best players that Spain's got to offer. Same thing with Mumbru, Lopez & Cabezas(he's listed as a team member).
All the top teams(Greece, Turkey & France) have creditebly improved by replacing more than half their lineup since EC 2007. and even Germany seems to be better without Notwiski and his 'B' side comrades of year's past.
I'm sure there's a wealth of new talent in Spain, Let's use them!

Then it is nice that the ACB league has so much funs comming to the games (The attendence int ACB is larger then in any other basketball legue in Europe)... and it is only the 5th sport there...

I remember when I was in Barcelona it happened just after Ricky had the hand surgery (I wanted to see him playing live a year ago.... and finally saw yersrerday, not in a big game) the news about him were in 42 page of sport newspaper. I have the picture of this page, that discreibed everything in very details, but only after a lot of football, tennis, mottors...

Handball, waterpolo, Futsal, grass hockey and hockey, volleyball, cycling, mountain bike, golf and so on... Spain has had EC and WC in all those sports, and no one really cared, no one paid them more attention after it, the day after winning no one talks about those sports anymore, just football and football...

yes,that's because you have too many success and you're too damn spoilled.
If in Greece we had a WC in curling (by faaar the most boring thing that man ever invented) or in darts wouldn't be suprised if I saw exclusive tv broadcasts and articles in all newspapers.
Heck I could even see us do that for spelling bees Olympics!!!

great game, average officiating(both sides were doomed by that, seriously).

we had a miserable shooting night but somehow managed to win, probably thanks to our defence. ender arslan played miserably, hedo basically sucked, but great performances by kerem tunceri, omer asik and (I can't believe I'm going to say this but) semih erden saved the day for us.

I must say what's also helping Turkey too is the great play of the center, Asik. I've never seen him before this tourney, and he was doing misreable in the 1st game against the Lith's until late in the game when he finally managed to get 2 buckets. But after that, my God! he's playing like a super center of 'Sabonis like' porportions!

Well, I would like to say some good details i've notced watching the game yesterday.

First, begining with 3rd quarter 5th minutes, 4 players on the court were all our bench players and they lasted till the last 3 minutes of the game, they were Ender, Engin, Semih and Sinan, although from time to time they struggled, never lost concentration on defense kept fighting, the contribution from the bench was +++ for winning this game.

Ersans play and his difference on the court was there all the time in every play. Those who say things about Semih Erden after two game, he stood me right as i was the one stood against people here saying bad things about him.

And also now people kept saying Ender was awful again, he turned to his bad game etc. That's just wrong!!! He wasn't bad yesterday at all. Playing good and making shots are two different things. Yesterday Ender played great, he always made the right decision found the right guy or when tried to shoot they were all open treys or jumpshots that just didn't get in. That is basketball sometimes your shot never goes in, thing is Enders all shoot decisions was absolutely right.

Well, I would like to say a good detail i've notced watching the game yesterday too.

In this match, I admit that Ersan is quality player. But One more thing about him I think , he has mentality problems. In last minutes of game, Why didn't he touch the ball? If he touched the ball, the game would have started near the court and Spain wouldn't have had 2 points. I really want to know What did he think in this position? How did he decide? Why didn't he touch the ball? He must be learnt that "Back pass isn't so dangerous thing", It is better than we lose 2 points .

You notice all these things and did not notice the most important? Pshihcology?

Ataman5 speaks technically, he complete me in technical. Ofcourse we also need technical comments.

in fact, basketball used to be the 2nd sport in Spain, in the 80's and 90's.
But, with Nadal, Alonso, Moto GP, etc. things have changed a lot.
Even thou, the ACB attendance is the highest of all Europe.
In Handball also we have one the highest attendance averages
