Thanks. So he is basically playing for 250-300K Euros...

He can get 10 times more in Europe...

He said his will was to, play one year, to prove what he could do, and then to try to get the maximum for a sophomore player. So something like 5-6 million $.

Jasikevicius stays with pao if they sign a big man able to play the pick n roll

ok, i was tired to translate all fresh interview (seems like scandalous already) of Saras, but i'll translate some thoughs about PAO.

When you diceded to leave NBA you had a hard time to pick your new team. How do you feel in Panathinaikos?

I don't know how to answer. I feel normally.

There are things which i would like to be different, but here are a lot good players in the team. I would like to go to starting 5 and to move faster to the rithm, but no-one is making such conditions for me.

But generally, i'm pleased by everything- great teammates, good relationships. I would like to play more minutes, but in this team are a lot of guys who feel the same.

You have to sacrifice something for the team.

What is the most difficult for you in the team, where are 4 similar guards?

The most difficult is not to be on starting 5. There are players who doesn't care when to start, for me it's very important.

First two minutes of the game is hell important for me. You send the massage to opponents, how good or agressive you are tonight.

And now, they put me in in the end of the first quater or on the second- almost the same as it was in NBA.

I don't knows...If we would compare my stats in first and second quarters, in the first one it's funny. Maybe the coach thinks i'm experienced and it's easy for me, but i'm just a man and i want to get into the game as far as it possible.

Did you talk about it with Obradovic?

I did once, but we are not talking about it. Eveyone on this team could be on starting 5. So i would't like to go and say, put me on the start. I'm not the only one.

This is it from me. Sorry for my brutal english.

From that i would say that Saras isn't very happy in PAO. BTW, seems like Obradovic already knows about this interview and he's not very happy about it.

Not even 1% if Obradovic stays. and I'm sure that Obradovic will stay.

He isn't mad. He just stated he didn't know Saras had an interview. But I don't think that there is 1 person in the world who expects players like Saras to ask for permission to give interviews...

Really ? Damned! I can easily see Dikoudis coming to Olympiakos this summer, as Giannakis choice... :(

:( for you and :) for me...

But now you mention it, I think the only chance PAO keeps him is so he doesn't land in Piraeus... :(

There surely are quite a few PFs out there this summer that i would prefer to see in pao instead of dikoudis:rolleyes:

Guys Dikoudis is Greek .. they will need a good experienced greek player for their team roster ... they can not have more than six nonGreek players ..at least for the Greek league (Zelio doesn't like to have other players for the Euroleague)
Saras, Winston, new pg, Batiste, Pekovic, Prkacin they are allready six.. it will be wired to let Dikoudis go ... only if Fotsis sing with Pao it will be reasonable

Why not ? He's great so far, as Zizic too... :D

PS. No, we don't want Andrija, back! :D

Agree. PAO doesn't need a new PG.

Unless Saras leaves, but then it is one non-Greek less anyway...
Prkacin will leave for sure and one of Zizic and Tomasevic will leave too. For those who don't know PAO has already 'paused' Tomasevic contract until further notice...

So even at the worst case, there will be 1-2 open spots. And even if there isn't there are Greek players about and around who would be crazy to play for PAO and not see it as a torture as some Greek PAO player did this season... For example I'd take Tsiaras over Dikoudes anytime... No one messes around with Obradovic...

Guys sorry i did not meant a pg ..i meant a player like Becirovic who is propably going to leave

About Prkacin .. i heard that he will propably stay for the next year ..we ll see

Tsiaras would be a good option .. i like him a lot .. but i don't think he is ready to play in Panathinaikos standarts yet ... he really has potential

He is 26. Almost halfway through his career and really close to his athletic peak, if he does not play for a big club now, he will never do it...

I mentioned Tsiaras as an example, there are more Greek players good enough for top clubs, they are just not being given the chances they clearly deserve...

Want another example? Pat Calathes. Hopefully he shows his skills in Panionios next season so some people open their eyes.

By the way, I wouldn't be surprised if a certain non-Greek PAO player got a Greek passport next season. Sakota is also returning, and he is Greek.

When Becirovic leaves then PAO will look for a replacement. No need to worry for such things right now... let the Italians and the Spaniards dream on...

Tiaras is 26?????Damn .. i would have said 23 if someone asked me ..
Berginis is great .. he needs to go to a team like Panionios Panellinios in order to evolve .. Paok is UNFORTUNATELY at his worst times

Imo the ones that will leave this summer are...
Tomasevic/Prkacin (they practically count as one EU player) and probably Pekovic will be the replacement.
One of Dikoudis and Zizic. If we sign either Fotsis or Koufos, Dikoudis will be the one. Otherwise, I think we'll keep (the Greek) Dikoudis and look for an anti-Zizic (Smodis?)
Becirovic (I'm sure he'll get several decent offers)
Alvertis. Sakota will probably return, unless our captain decides to retire next year.
The big question is Saras.. Does he really want to go to Barca that bad? Will he be willing to break such a contract? Will Messina want him? Will he find that kind of money somewhere else? Cause I don't think Obradovic would be that negative on releasing him and having 3,5 mil Euros to spend for replacements..Anyway, if he leaves (along with Sani), we'll go for a PG (Zisis maybe) and a wing player..
PS: Zots rarely releases players of his own choice. Zizic and Winston are this kind of signings and I think he'll give both of them a second chance next year after all. Let's not forget what Batiste's first season was like and how much he evolved the next few years. On the other hand, Saras (much like Javtokas and Delk) is basically a presidents' signing. Could this mean something?

Can anyone confirm whether Spanoulis and Saras do or do not have opt outs in their contracts? I could of sworn that when they signed it was reported they had opt outs but then I brought this up on the Greek forum and Arkadios said I was wrong............but I still thought it was said they did when they signed their deals. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

A few weeks ago, when a rumor concerning Saras and Barca came up, it was written (nothing official ofcourse) in spanish media that both Saras and PAO have opt outs with a buy out of 250K Euros..! Saras, said the rumor, could leave with no buy out if Obradovic also left the club..
As far as Spanoulis is concerned, personally I don't remember anything being said about an opt out in his contract-3 years guaranteed. But I am certain I remember reading in a Spurs forum that next year he may go to SA, provided that both the player and SA want to. Apparently this is just a rumor too..

I see so basically they don't really have a normal opt out they probably have special opt outs based on certain things and situations. Hmm.....

I would compare Navarro's possible "upside" as they say in the NBA as a John Paxson type player maybe with slightly worse defense and better ball handling and penetrating skills. He's an undersized, not that really good of defense playing in NBA SG that does not really have point guard skills. But he's also quite capable of lighting up a score board IF he's on a team where he could be a player playing off some better players.

Say like Houston Rockets imagine him getting all those wide open shots every game instead of Rafer Alston. Navarro has to go to the right team but he could be a very deadly shooter in just the right team and system. So I would think that some NBA team will offer him something like a $15 million contract for 3 years or $20 million contract for 4 years this off season. So that's probably similar to what he would get from a big Spanish club.

Greeks

Greeks

Barcelona need to invest lots of money after Navarro´s lost and this desapointed season... so I would´t be surprised if they try very hard with Saras... They probably want to get read of Acker, Gary Neal and if there´s a good offer Ilyasova...

On the other hand my greek friends... DOES ANYBODY WANT PAPADOPOULOS FOR FREE???? OH! I FORGOT PELEKANOS as well...

I´m not too sure Haislip will remain in Unicaja... ok maybe yes since Scariolo is nearly out of the bench for next season...

RUDY FERNANDEZ RULES!!!!!!!
