Euroleague quarter-final playoffs - game 3

Barcelona

Barcelona

can someone(from spain) tell me if Barcelona is going to be in the EL next year, allready?! or there are some conditions?!...
if Barcelona is in the f-4 does it mean she is automaticly in the El next year (or not?!..)

in other words:
what should happen in order for them to play in the EL next year?!

They need to be among 4 best teams in regular ACB season (4th place is ok only if some 5th-8th team does not win a title), or to win a title if they are 5-8 position after regular ACB season.
Given the current situation on ACB league standings, they are pretty sure for EL next year.

From what I am reading lately, if Tau makes it to the f4, they will become the most hated team, because they will be the team that killed the cinderella.. :D

Let it be, though. Better in the f4 and hated than out of it... ;)

EDIT: Good luck to Tau and Olympiacos on Wednesday :)

so you're saying they can finish 4th and still not be in the EL next year?!
( only if they will finish 4th but one of the teams from 5-8 will win the title?! ... )

Tau and Malaga are sure for next season. I think also Real will be in, if the hold the 1st place after the regular season. So if Tau, Joventut, Barca and Real reach the 1/2 final, then Barca must reach the final to be in EL next season or win it, if they would play against Joventut in the final.

But their could be some changes, if Joventut win the Uleb Cup. And for that the are the 1st favourit.

I don't understand this. Does this mean that teams from Spain have contracts too? Is that why you said Tau and Malaga are sure for next season?

Buducnost explained it all perfectly:

Yeah here are contracts too for 3 years: Unicaja and TAU now have them.
The "champion" of the regular season gets automatically another spot in EL (it seems that Real will be that team)
And the rest of the teams wiill have to fight for the other spot, but in case that two teams contenders got out of the playoffs in the same round, the spot for EL would go to the team that had the highest place in the regular season. For example if Barcelona and Joventiut were eliminated in the playoffs in semifinals, and the final was between teams that have already a spot for euroleague, the last place for EL would go to Joventut.

In case that Joventut wins the Uleb Cup but he didnt get a place for the EL in the playoffs, well in that case im not sure what could happen, i really dont see 5 spanish teams in the EL to be honest.

Nah, it will be the emotion of the element of surprise and competitiveness along with the passion for basketball running through my veins ;)

I hope you won't be able to find any other incentives for laughing along the way :D
...other than emotions deriving from the element of a big surprise, i mean :p :)

i think i got a Headache:rolleyes:...
but thanks for the answer(and others ,too..)

so, i guess, the questions that remain are :
-what happens if Joventut wins the Uleb Cup  ...
does spain can have "only" 4 teams no matter what?!
and if that's the case ,then, i understand that if Joventut wins the Uleb Cup then Real,Tau,Malaga and Joventut will be the 4 teams in the EL ...
and if Joventut will not win the Uleb Cup then the 4th team(other than Real,Tau,Malaga) will be the one that will go the furthest in the latest stage in spanish league ?!
(and that would be the case even if barca will advance to the f-4....)
...did i get it RIGHT ?! ...

Baskonia-Partizan 60/65-40/35

CSKA-Olympiacos 65-35

Maccabi-Barcelona 70-30

Go Tau go!!!

CSKA- Oly is at 18.15, Tau - Partizan at 20.30 and Maccabi-Barcelona the next day... the fact I'll be able to watch all three games without switching from one to another just made my day

Odds for the game

Odds for the game

Guys,

I am a bookie, and I trust the betting market, and this is what they say.

Cska - Oly 83-17
Tau - Partizan 75-25
Maccabi - Barca 70-30

I see no reason to doubt any of these, maybe Tau is closer to 70-30 but it is not far out at all. Home advantage is massive in the Euroleague, and will always be a factor in these matchups.

Tewkyhoops

The thing is, Tri, that even if Barça wins both the ACB and the Euroleague Final Four, they will miss next season's Euroleague if Joventut -or Pamesa or Girona- win the Uleb Cup. :D As a Real Madrid fan, I must confess I like the idea.

I don't think they would throw out the champion, it would be unsporting and bureaucratic...

Tau-Partizan 40-60
Tau had a hard time wining last game at home, when they were still in shape, it seems TAU is falling apart where as Partizan is at its peak, so i will make a bold move and predict PArtizan to win.

CSKA-Olympiacos 80-20
CSKA is more clutch, the players are used to pressure and preforming at their peek whrn its most important, plus they play at home, so no real chance for Oly

Maccabi-Barcelona 80-20

Barca is not clutch enough, and no chance they win in Nokia, Maccabi fans are crazy, plus Maccabi has a better team down low, and thats where you win big games, in the post. They will just feed Nikola and Morris all they long, and that will be that.

The only thing that could stop Maccabi is an awesome game by Basile(Again), Lakovic and Trias, if Trias comes and plays like he has show this year he can a few times, then barca has a shot. But i don't believe that will happen, as i think if Lakovic plays well Basile wont and i the chance of Trias playing lights out is 5%.
