Euroleague quarter-final playoffs - game 3

  • Thread starter Thread starter De Ridder2

Regarding these idiot Maccabi fans, I dont actually understand why usually so hard-hitting Israeli police didnt do anything about it and let those dickheads near Barca players. There could have been fight at the airport already. In Estonia you woulda been definitely kicked out of the airport for such an behaviour, doesnt matter whether you're local or not.
For me it seems Israeli teams need no more armed security in Europe than Barca players needed in Tel Aviv. Well all people are equal, but some are more equal.

I don't think Basile is a provocator... in his long career he's usually been correct both on and off court. He's not, let's say, a Danilovic type of player... :D

He was nervous, that's for sure. But it's not out of this world if you're facing an elimination in a competion like the Euroleague... i can understand him.
Basile nervous? It seems that Maccabi's fans were nervous (why? easy, he scored 34 points in game-2, killing Tel Aviv. That's what Yellows couldn't accept). Basile provocator? It seems that here no-one is enough honest to recognize that the one who provoked him was Cummings, with a stupid, dangerous and useless foul. And then, while Basile was on the floor, someone from the public touched him (someone pulled his hairs). In a normal and civilian place, things like this don't happen. In a normal and civilian place...

Cummings started all, i agree. But Basile's reaction (kicking Cummings from the ground) was simply wrong so in the end he deserved to be ejected too...

I can't see that video....
is there any alternative link? youtube?...

Usually so hard-hitting Israeli police? Where do you have this non-sense from? What kind of comparisons do you draw? Did any of those MTA fans touch Barca's players or have done any harm to them? This is normal behaviour of die-hard fans who expect a game at high stakes. Alex Acker said it right and some Barca players were actualy smiling (like Basile) or even filming the whole event. After all, nobody went personal. It was just a piece of what Barca's players had to anticipate before entering the court. What's your problem with that?
I wouldn't probably go to such a happening at the airport. I'm quite sure I wouldn't. But it doesn't make people who do it appear to be worse than me.

For what? Ever heard anything about freedom of expressing your opinion? This opinion wasn't libelling anybody and wasn't physical. The police was present and there was not a single chance of anything bad to happen. Everyone present got everything in the right throat.

Uhu, right. Israeli sportsmen use their own security since the infamous attack at Israeli Olympians in Munich in 1972, which ended with eleven of them being shot or blown up by a hand grenade. Israeli sportsmen would be more than glad, if they could travel without such security measurements but life has shown all of us an example. Nobody tried to even touch Barca's players. Nobody there was armed. Police was standing nearby. It's really a stupid comparison. Before you wight sth. like that, better think about the reasons why all Jewish institutions throughout the world need to take extra security measurements.

If you use WinAmp, open this message in WinAmp through IE. It is the fourth or fifth video in the list. The stuff before is the one and same commercial.

Goga, there's no reason for us to argue, cause we clearly have different opinions about politeness and respect towards people.
Imagine when there'd been some Spanish fans screaming insults towards Maccabi players in Hebrew in Barcelona, it woulda made front pages everywhere in the world as terrible anti-semitic attack. When Jewish extremist fans insult Spanish team members in Spanish, no-one cares except few people here.
That's what I call double standards. And you cant play this 36 years old tragedy card forever to justify your arrogance and demanding extra rights compared to everyone else in the world. That only creates more hate, in case you care what goys are thinking...

Saying that, I still fully like Maccabi team, fans like these are not enough to start cheering their losses.

PS: what are those fat idiots exactly screaming, i could well hear only "Basile puta", but it seemed to be lot more of it.

This is NOT matter of freedom of speech, gimme a break. Annoying and insulting visitors at the airport is not "expressing your opinion".
It is very unprofessional to let provocative fans near visiting sports team.

Oh, really? As I said before, I wouldn't go to the airport in such a case and I wouldn't shout anything towards the opposing players that doesn't have to do with basketball. If some jerks have insulted one or otherp layer, their action deserves to be condemned. Everything else is perfectly okay.

Imagine when there'd been some Spanish fans screaming insults towards Maccabi players in Hebrew in Barcelona, it woulda made front pages everywhere in the world as terrible anti-semitic attack.

Wrong. You can attack anybody in the same style or you can make special cases, with pointing to the players' nationalities. One case is a regular insult, the second one is specifically racist or anti-semitic.

When Jewish extremist fans insult Spanish team members in Spanish, no-one cares except few people here.

Are you sure, only Jews can support Maccabi Tel-Aviv? Or do you think that Jews only are living in Israel? Israel's citizens are being called Israelis. This term should also be known in Estonia, right? No one calls you a Christian, A catholic, a Protestant or whatever. You are an Estonian, just as those fans are Israelis. They aren't extremists of any sort. Some of the behaved normally, some acted like jerks, shouting out insults, which is clearly wrong. The atmosphere created by this "greeting committee" was good enough without any insults.

That's what I call double standards. And you cant play this 36 years old tragedy card forever to justify your arrogance and demanding extra rights compared to everyone else in the world. That only creates more hate, in case you care what goys are thinking...

It wasn't the only case of Jewish/Israeli people or Jewish/Israeli institutions being victim of an attack. Before you are uttering such obvious nonsense, better hold your tongue. A permanent danger, which is actually being recognized as a danger by European governments and European states' police isn't a double standard but a sad reality. A few security men do not create any hatred. If they do so with you, then you have a real problem.

Saying that, I still fully like Maccabi team, fans like these are not enough to start cheering their losses.

It's your choice, whether to like or to dislike Maccabi. No one can prohibit you anything here.

Freedom of movement and freedom of speech are untouchable as long as they don't interfere with momentarily more important reasons. Before those guys came into the waiting room they were checked for anything they could have carried with them. Police was present anyway. So there was no risk for Barca's players at all. No one of them has understood it as sth. threatening. No need for your personal interpretations here. As to insulting players, we don't have two different opinions here. It is wrong and deserves to be condemned. But no policeman would ever drag you away for sth. like that, if you are not dreaking some order of a meeting or certain rules. Nothing like that has taken place here. The whole procedure took like 30 seconds and nobody took it personal on both sides with the exception of a few jerks there and you here. Before trying to talk to me about legal matters, better check your law code first.
Besides, stuff like that happens at most of sportive events, especially basketball and even more soccer. So, what do you want to do? Not let thousands of people into the stadium? It can get much worse. Fans can really insult or hurt players, getting very personal, mentioning their famiy, their nationality and so one. But what do you do in a case, where fans are booing and cursing a home team player? You still have different kinds of gradations here and what happened at the airport is normal not slightly out of norm.
