yes because he already played for Lebanon in the WABA championships (correct me if I'm wrong my Lebanese friends)before playing in the jones cup.talking about naturalizing that fast.

Vroman just played with us in the Jones Cup and last Asian Championship (The Lebanese federation worked really hard and very efficiently to get all his paper work done correctly+quickly without any issues).
Uptil now he's probably going to be staying with our NT and most probably will be with us in the World Championships this summer.

It's a very much different in our case with our Philippine's present economic situation compared to yours. Your country's per capita income is over $11,000.00 ave. compared to the Phils which is only $3,300.00 ave.

Yeah that's true but if i'm not mistaken foreign players in the PBA are making close to what foreign players in Lebanon are getting (we do have a big variance depending on the skill level of the players. I think someone like CJ Giles was getting something close to $12,500 US/month while some others would get as much as $5,000 US/month)

well, pba teams have the money. our sbp is relying on a corporate sponsor to finance the salaries not only of an import/naturalized player but also the whole gilas line-up. salaries, not just allowances or compensations per tournament appearance.

It is so unfair that this Arab countries are cheating by recruiting fake naturalize players like Qatar, Lebanon , and Jordan. They are so influential to FIBA

you could go into trouble with our arab posters here if you don't further explain this statement

i've never seen a Qatari forumer so i guess it's okay to single them out. :D the Jordanians have a couple of half-Americans + Wright while the Lebanese have Freije (who probably has as much Lebanese blood as Norwood, Pennisi, and Taulava have Filipino blood) + Vroman.

naturalization and citizenship rules are different for every country. if anyone ought to be so specific about fake naturalized players, we should be the ones careful about it because we had a history of having Fil-Shams in our leagues. it's great that the Smart Gilas program doesn't have that distinction of relying on Fil-Ams (for now).

Since Milan was brought in, it has been very quite in our naturalization prospect. The jury will soon be out for Milan's place in the team. No wonder if SBP was still on intensive recruitment for possible candidates. Is Dwayne Jones guaranteed a contract by the Phoenix Suns for next season? May be we can revisit him again, probably Greg Stiestma. What do they think of Vincent Jones? He's been registering impressive numbers in the recently concluded Champions Cup in Doha.

Great points. However, he said fake naturalized players. Our Fil shams were supposedly declared by blood affinity (w/c turned out to be fake affinity) as Filipinos but never naturalized.

Anyway, I think it was an error input. Would there really be fake naturalized players? Its like saying, the naturalization of the individual was illegal and not honored by their govt.

I think to be completely fair, anyone not born in XXX country should be considered a naturalized player. Personally I don't really care so much about this, as long as the competition is good. If Qatar thinks 10 black men makes their country proud so be it. Just like you Filipinos identify with Fil-Ams etc.

I'm watching the Riyadi-Gilas game at the moment. I'm impressed of Milan's post game. I say if Greg continues to improve up 2011 let's just naturalize Milan and play him as 4. Greg as 5, Milan as 4.

Fil-ams born in a foreign country doesn't make them less Filipino.

what are you trying to imply?

but isn't always the case. there are guys who cannot even find their relatives in rp or cannot remeber any single tagalog word or cannot give up their us citizenship (I can't argue with that its their choice). Theres a rule to limit this type of players in pba not because they are competing with the home grown but they gone through thru different technicalities I admit it is easier to admit you are a fil foreign rather than to be naturalized:D:D

Let me just ask you this, disregarding the age limits, can these Fil-Ams run for president in your country? If no, why not?

Like I said I don't really care what each country does with the naturalization rule because each country is different as have been mentioned. But some people here seem to think you have the "moral high ground" over Qatar is mistaken, IMO. Again, don't think I'm implying anything, I have previously expressed my disgust at Qatar too -- but only because they changed facts (like birth places), not because the choice they make on their representatives.
