I really had high hopes for RR even before he became mvp. A nice balance of pg skills and scoring. nice jumpshot too. Too bad Romeo came in and he became more of an off guard.

Can't wait to see Tolomia and Romeo play together next season lol. Those bigmen better start working on rebounding and inbounding the ball lol

Hell I really cannot avoid to compare the basketball program under the supervision of Pido on UST to the one with Dindo handling UE..(remeber Paul Lee is a Chongson boy:cool:)

as a basketball perspective you cannot argue at the same time appreciate RR's skills. His kontra tyempo style which is rare in College basketball.. but as a fan imagining if he can do all of this to the next level.. or shall I say a very good player comes along (like Barroca in his rookie year and Romeo peaking).. because he is not the most athletic and explosive player out there..

if there's any player in the uaap that can be dominating it is pogoy of feu. though playing sf he has the playmaking ability of a pg. if feu or someone from the national team trains this guy he can be a great pg. a bigger bonbon custodio type of a player playing point guard. another one is mariano, though he needs to improve his dribbling skills, he doesnt lack the basketball smarts needed to be a great player. if he can be elevated to an sg type of player and be trained he can be really special.

is it me the 4 peat guys who graduated from ateneo and goes on to become pros did not have the colorful career that some people expected.. look at the best player in their batch Rabeh Al Hussaini to emphasize it..

Its maybe because some of the best players in the uaap just thrived from the system making them special wherein talent wise they are not all star material.

so its safe to break the myth that Norman Black is a good big man coach afterall look at SMB grandslam era.. Yves is one of the most efficient big man out there

yes I agree with you! :) Or add Dong Polistico to that list.

Anyway maybe ADMU is like DUKE.. Winners but haven't produced any good individual players in the pros.

One could argue that the Norman Black system is better than some of the systems that are run in the pros. I actually think getting Bo Perasol is a step down in terms of X's and O's, but he is already one of the better hires out there.

Interesting developments at Loyola, particularly during the basketball off season. Bo Perasol is definitely out - he might be given an assistant coaching job at TNT, Meralco or NLEX but he won't be with Ateneo. Unless Perasol himself jumps out of the MVP ship which I doubt.

Ateneo's problem at this stage is that they don't exactly have a deep bench to choose from to replace Black for next season. I heard Ricky Palou has been authorized to look for Black's replacement but the list is extremely limited. He definitely won't be getting his choice from the MVP, ECJ and RSA stables. MVP has Ryan and Allan Gregorio, Chot and Josh Reyes, Jong Uichico, Boyet Fernandez, Bo Perasol, Ronnie Magsanoc, among others. The ECJ Group has Gie Abanilla and his DLSU assistants. RSA has Richard Del Rosario, Jorge Gallent, Johnny Abarrientos, Jeffrey Cariaso, Juno Sauler, Olsen Racela, among others. So who will they end up with?

They might consider Joel Banal once more. Banal, who gave them their first title in 2002 after a 14-year drought, is presently not involved with any team and he would seem to be acceptable to the alumni community. Jamike Jarin and Sandy Arespacochaga have been assistant coaches at Ateneo for several years already so they may also be considered. However, if I'm not mistaken, both are also employed in the MVP Group (please correct me if I'm wrong with Sandy in particular) so the question is would they break free from the MVP stable? Other options include Bong Ramos, Leo Austria, Alex Compton, among others. However, it may be difficult to pry the Alaska assistant coaches especially if it's true that WSU has put his foot down and disallowed any of his coaches to work elsewhere, as in the Topex Robinson case.

Ateneo's recruiting pipeline might suffer..but one positive thing also they cannot styop the players laying in the secondary leagues now as lets face it MVP is the biggest and most significant booster of the school. Kiefer won't be in Ateneo without him so as Ryan, Nico and Greg..

Nonoy is an all star talent so as Salamat, Nico Salva, JC Intal(product of lipa/banl pipelline) and Rabeh is a talent but with baggage

because his good in team management something that is good for a collegiate program as his assistant are in charge with the x and o's he just need to satisfy every recruit wants which is opportunity to contribute

Chot Reyes @coachot 1m
Ateneo hates us -“@cotzjoseph: I used to coach in ateneo h.s. but when they learned I talk wid ur brother jun they told me I must resign.”
