Is this a clue on what we should expect for next year?

Re Ray Parks, if he does decide to play in RP, he will still have to take the 2-year residency since he has been studying HS in the States. Would be a big coup for NU if they do get him!

The UAAP rule which took effect in 2001 requires a two-year residency for players who studied abroad for three years or more.

But I do not know if the Maui Villanueva rule could be applied as Ray Parks had actually gotten his Primary and Intermediate Education here in the Philippines before he transferred to the US for his High School.

I would rather have Ray stay in the US since there are already interest in him by UTEP, Memphis, Virginia and several more US Division I NCAA schools. And the closeness of Bobby Parks to Coach John Calipari of Kentucky also makes the Wildcats a possibility.

One has to ask the question, what did it take for Ray Parks to give up a shot at a division I school and play for NU? If Ray was not assured of receiving a division I offer for season 2011-2012, did the family turn down the offer from his godfather, Norman Black, to play for ADMU?

Maui Villanueva is a special case and I believe the family cleared his moving to Japan with the UAAP board before he even went abroad. What UP and other schools did not know was that DLSU had the inside track of recruiting Maui even before he left for Japan. DLSU kept the communication lines open between them and Maui. That was a big fish that got away from Diliman.
