UAAP Season 74 (2011-2012)

Eric Altamirano finally coaching NU was the worse kept secret in the UAAP. Now all the junior national players can finally don the uniform of NU. Labingisa, Neypes, Ray Parks and maybe even Kevin Ferrer. There are other transfer players in team B who are currently red shirting like Penola and other former NCAA players. But does NU have enough big men to compete with the top 3 schools mentioned above? Mbe may not be enough in the long run. Does Park only have to sit out 1 year for residency? He played 3 years of high school ball in Memphis and if the Cardona rule is applied correctly, he has to sit out an additional year.

Ray Parks playing for NU was a pure business decision by the Parks family. Have you guys heard of the Danny Manning saga at Kansas. Danny Manning was the top high school player coming out of high school. To the surprise of everybody, coach Larry Brown taps the father of Danny Manning to be one of his assistant coaches despite limited experience and the son eventually follows the father to Lawrence Kansas. Altamirano and the Sy family made an offer that the Parks family could not refuse. The father gets a good paying gig with NU and Ray is showered with perks that few schools could match even if they wanted too. Let's face it, Ray Jr. is good but he is not going to end up playing for a top division I school and become a star player. More like a role player in college but with his size and ability, he will be a star in Philippine basketball.

will Michael pate land in NU?coz he is a close friend of bobby,Norman penola and jean Mbe!. .:D

A regular in AP.com and Gameface; Glock 23, said that Pate will play for DLSU. Given the number of wing players and guards playing for team D, Pate may have to red shirt next year.

Sad to say but basing on the recruiting results the past 10 years, the star players of Zobel or LSGH do not see CSB as a viable destination school. They see DLSU, UP, UST, UE and even ADMU as their top options. Some of the players would rather play for team B of DLSU or ADMU than accept a full ride scholarship to CSB.

just when you thought that College Ball just reach the zenith of commercialization, boom..NU ehem Henry Sy purchases the RP U-18 team...disgusting

The UAAP no longer functions as a league that pushes for the holistic aspect of a university but as a marketing tool to attract prospective enrollees, sickening.

I just hope that as NU basketball team improves, there educational quality also improve in NU with Sy as a owner.

Are you sure sir that they will have all this RP team under 18 standouts like Cedric Labing-isa, Kevin Ferrer and Keifer?

heard Ferrer is a lock for ADMU. UST can't do sh*t about his transfer (or transfer of their HS Star players).

Ravena most probably will stay with ADMU.

Bringas would do a 2 year residency

Source brah?

Arvie Bringas played for DLSU in 2009. He transferred to FEU this year after being cut from the DLSU roster. As for sitting out two years, please refer to Rule 3.1.1.1 of the UAAP Rules and Regulations, to wit:

An undergraduate transferee who is an athlete (regular or training team) from a UAAP member University must establish two (2) years – meaning 730 calendar days of continuous residency in such Member University.
