Because of a backloaded offer. Houston FTW if they pull this off-- pushing NY to luxury tax deep waters should they match. Lin is NOT worth the contract basketball ability-wise but being Chinese will make up for it. ;)

ESPN Radio broadcasted that Jeremy Lin has now been notified by the New York Knicks that they are declining his option and not matching the offer sheet signed by Lin with the Houston Rockets. Still no official announcement have been given to the press.

Linsanity ends in New York. For just one shortened season it happened. It mesmerized the world for weeks where an underdog basked in the limelight. Like a short but sweet dream, reality and economics bites.

The New York Knicks have signed guard Chris Smith. Chris is the younger brother of JR Smith.

Amare Stoudemire training with NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon. Stoudemire is taking a fresh course on his overall post up game.

The Knicks will suck again I'll bet against them every single game. LOL

Ronnie Brewer will be sidelined for six weeks due to a meniscus tear on his left knee.

Former New York Knicks coach / president Isiah Thomas have met with Knicks owner James Dolan.

ESPN reports that Baron Davis, who played for the Knicks last season despite abruptly ending his season early due to an injury, is still with the team despite a non-playing role. Davis will be active for the Knicks this season with off-court matters.

Rasheed Wallace is coming out of retirement to sign with the Knicks. A week ago, Wallace has been working out in the Knicks training facility.

BREAKING NEWS: RASHEED WALLACE TO KNICKS ABOUT TO BE OFFICIAL

And now the Knicks are officially a "retirement home" more than a basketball team ;)
They will have lots of wheel chairs, crutches and nurses at the Garden :p.

Look at the ages of these players of theirs!
Kurt Thomas born in 1972
Jason Kidd born in 1973
Marcus Camby born in 1974
Rasheed Wallace born in 1974
Pablo Prigioni born in 1977

Well, if you underestimate these guys, you'll be up for some surprises. Camby surely is a luxury item as a backup to Chandler, Thomas has always been one hell of a tough post defender, and the qualities of Kidd at the point surely don't need to be mentioned anymore. Prigioni is a cheap, but also very solid choice as a backup behind Felton and Kidd, while Wallace needs to be seen. If he gets back in shape during the offseason, possibly good for around 10 minutes a game, the Knicks have done everything right. The team is much deeper this year, and experience doesn't hurt, as long as the guys are in shape - and a lot of teams in the league wouldn't mind a guy like Camby on their roster. It had reasons that even the Heat wanted Camby as their starting center.

I don't underestimate these players as they have all had solid careers throughout their lives. I just don't believe the Knicks made a good decision by getting all these old players now. Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Baron Davis, Iman Shumpert, and Tyson Chandler all spent time nursing injuries last season and that is why I am pretty sure that health will be a major factor for this Knicks team... Moreover the medical staff of the Knicks will be in for a nightmare especially considering that the Knicks is now officially the oldest team (regarding the age of their players) in NBA history!
