SMART GILAS Serbian Tour 2010

i hate delusional fans :p

Cmon guys...dont think like losers...if our Northen Consolidated team beat Italy and lost to Brazil by only 1 point, why do you think that Gilas will never replicate the same achievement.....they just need very good preparation...give them 1 to 2 years to prepare.....mark my word.

Maybe you should first learn to read everything properly, before you write nonsense like that. I never wrote nonsense like that. I just pointed out that playing Junior teams on their Aussie tour wasn't a very competetive choice - something you could hardly disagree on - or in more harsh words: Beating a team that a little later gets beaten easily by a German U18 team without three current starters is not exactly a great achievement.

Nardy just answered your opinion...

Our objective in our Australian trip is for the team to learn the fundamentals of proper defense at the AIS and the scrimmages where just add-ons on its build-up towards the Asian Games and the FIBA-Asia Championship.

We have to prove ourselves first and that is to win from the bottom going up. For me, the team is on the right track, we need GILAS to peak at the right time so the timing of playing quality opponents is also programmed. We cannot let the team face Powerful teams and just get beaten black and blue as that would affect the confidence of the players. As of now, we are at the stage wherein the players should be confident that they are competitive so lets just elevate the competitive athmosphere at the proper pace. I like the Serbian program wherein they are to face the teams they faced last year which beaten us badly, that way the coaching staff could truly gauge if the team did improve or not and what further adjustments has to be done. We should take this a step-at-a-time and we should not be rushing things. We should stick to the planned program and not divert unwisely.
:p:p:p:p:p

and i hate pompous people who dismiss eager fans as "delusional."

lalo na kung kapwa mo pilipino.

@bsgermany

not all fans here think that the smart gilas wins against aussie junior and minor league squads are "great achievements." but may i point out that your logic doesn't also hold water either? team A beats team B and team B defeats team C doesn't necessarily mean that team A will beat team C. any sports fan worth his salt should know that. so if you come in here and brag that somebody posted nonsense, and you've never done the same, maybe you should pause first and think twice before you do it again.

germany is a great basketball country. no one can contest that. but all of us in IBN know who are the greatest basketball fans. ;)

trans: When white people say that they are disappointed, then they say that are really disappointed unlike us Pilipinos who sugarcoat everything to the point of blurring our message.

Trans: Allegiance on opinions are not restricted on a nationality basis. And please before saying anything pompous and bullies, why wont you look at yourself first.

optimistic is not delusional

at the same time,

realistic is not pessimistic...

forgive those who are optimists... ban those pessimists :D

well he should know how to back up his statement for before saying that here. I do have high hopes for Smart Gilas but I do reality check first before I make such predictions.

the discussion in the 'austalian tour' thread has spilled over to this thread...

anyway, i really was not interested in the final scores and results in australia... i was more concerned on the performance of slaughter and aguilar...

i was also especially interested in gilas' learning of that vaunted australian defense toroman has been praising.

did gilas really learned to play defense the australian way?

if yes, then the aussie trip was successful no matter what the final scores are

back to this serbian tour...

i think tour is more about measuring how much the team has improved in a year. they can safely compare their performance last year to this year...

i think success in this serbian tour would mean that the team defeats (or loses closely) serbian ball clubs...

Sorry guys for spoiling it for you, but KK Superfund is not near division one, not this year... And to be honest they aren't doing well this season in second division. Maybe the better indicator was that game against Metalac, a mid level Serbian team. I'm not trying to disrespect or anything, but I really don't know where's the point in matching up with Serbian second division teams.
What Rajko should do is to find top class team from this region, to give him a proper view of Gilas current situation and their real strength on international level. A team like FMP could do the job.

Isn't it Superfund is 19-4 in the current standings? Who is the top team then in Div 2?

Can I throw back this statement at you...can you back up your statement that Gilas team will never beat Germany in basketball in 2 years time.....my basis for my statement is their rate of improvement, their satisfactory performance as of this time, their continuous training, and the fact that we were able to beat the top european club team in the past (NCC beat Italy by 10 pts).....Please tell me now why do you think that Philippines will not be able to repeat that same achievement in 2 years time.

i can't believe you posted this! obviously, you don't know that it is impolite to generalize, especially when it comes to race/nationality. the worst part is, you sound like you're kissing the asses of "white people" whom you seem to so much admire.

you castigate your own nation? in front of other nations? this is a new low for even the likes of you. may i just remind other nationalities here that not all pinoys think the same way as this joker.

so you think i'm pompous? that i'm a bully? maybe true. but i only bully the bullies. bullies like you. you know, the mod-wannabe types.

here we go again twisting what I said, sige ikaw na ang magaling dahil ikaw ang maka Pilipino, ikaw na un iskolar ng bayan.

Now, this is the best way to assess the situation. I salute you for being frank but at the same level very respectful.

This is the exact opposite of the other one who has been playing around with the Filipino basketball fan's insecurities, in which some other fanboys who took the cue to pounce on this opportunity to get back at their own national team. And lastly, for those who fail to read between his lines, crowing his country's basketball prowess vs. the RP's in the guise of "constructive criticisms", it is you who should go back to school.

well, congratulations for the well thought out answer! after telling the whole world how whites don't think like pinoys (and they do it better, right?), and dismissing eager fans as "delusional" you come up with this magnificent post.

i don't know if i'm more mad or sorry.

honestly. nakakaawa ka. :(

Translation: You're a pinoy, be proud of it.
