I believe it might be another fanatic because the IP address used by the two trolls are of different global location from what Busy used. Anyway, let's keep things cool and please stay on topic. Stop the discussion about Iran and RP if it's not proving to be a good discussion. This thread is about China Tour of Smart Gilas and their exploits.

Sorry for that, I believe Taiwan have no plans of naturalizing any American soon. It is Jeremy Lin who's on their sights. On Banchero, he's still a senior in Seattle Pacific. I think he'll be available next year.

I remember when Taiwan pinned their hopes on Tien Lei. Now Lin is another prospect. I think Lin will be the hotshot of Taiwan in the very near future.

@grahamtelly: actually its the Chinese Taipei-Pure Youth team with some team B national players and the import. Banchero is still here in the US i think his parents doesnt want him to let the Gilas program effect his education here
So it's Taiwan B. Hopefully they have good shooters so we can gauge Gilas' perimeter D. That's bad if his parents are not ok with Gilas program. Wish that they'd have a change of heart and let Banchero play some ball in the Asiad.

i must say Jeremy Lin is the real thing he could even be the best point guard in asia in the next 2-3years, an high IQ player literally :D

By the time the Asiad rolls around, the US NCAA season would have been in full swing. This is Banchero's last year and he figures to be one of the top players in D-II.

He can give our guards rough competition in the future definitely. Is he better than Sun Yue? Anyway, if this Lin proves to be unstoppable, I recommend Sergeant Wynne Arboleda to handcuff him during gametime :D.

If he can make it to ABA or NBA or the D-League then that decision is good for him. If not, he's wasting his marketability as a Gilas prospect. Seigle made a mark in a Division I school and Asi gamely showed his wares in BYU, but they didn't make it to the American big leagues. So I hope Banchero gauges himself well and look for the right career path. If he can play ball in any of the American big leagues, then that achievement is better than playing for Gilas as of the moment.

imo if only Sun Yue has a consisntent outside shot he could still be in the NBA and be the best PG in asia.. Lin is very explosive like our own Sol Mercado and he can also shoot.

Here's an Asian player who could literally give Chris Tiu a run for his money. I mean, if he could afford Harvard and all (Ivy League schools do not give athletic scholarships)...

Not to mention the fact that he has a 3.01 GPA in his Economics degree and was the California player of the year in high school. He's that good. He's Taiwan's Chris Tiu, only he made it into the NBA :D

if only Tiu is 6'3 and plays PG....

Well, Rajko said that Tiu is NBA material if not for his height. If Gilas can make it into the worlds and the olympics, at least Tiu can show his arsenal in the World amateurs. There was a time when Jaworski and others wowed the international scene. Tiu and other guys can make their own mark if and when they qualify for the Worlds. After all, NBA now respects FIBA competitions more than ever.

The players who have the biggest chances of making it to the NBA or Europe are Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter.

They simply need to accelerate their game. :)

Japeth needs to be like an Antonis Fotsis, while Greg Slaughter should be like Robertas Javtokas.

You add Ray Parks too. although still raw but with more training, exposure and experience he is gonna have a solid all around game.

This one I agree is the strongest case for NBA prospect. At least let him grow taller a few inches more. An explosive 6'7 footer in 1-2 position will make him certainly delectable to NBA scouts.

have you watch the us documentary kuya? you will see their how chris banchero get his own against NBA prospect? if my memory is right jeremy lin is there too... banchero is so impresive in us documentary... if he is only available for us to play in asiad... i think he could be a good addition in our team.. to accomplish our goal in asiad ^^

Yes, I did elisher. That's how I actually got impressed with the kid from the states. I know the kid can strut some nasty ball stuff. My fear is that for him to make it in the big leagues, he'll have to go through the needle. Not unlike in Gilas where he can show his stuff to international Scouts granted that Gilas qualifies at least to the Worlds and the Olympics. That is not actually a longshot given the debacle which Jordan NT is in right now and how we fared against a fully-armed Leb NT in Stankovic 2010. I'm saying that with Gilas bringing its' name globally, all the players will be in outright spotlight. Who would have ever known a Hammed Hadadi, a Yi Jian Lian, a Fadi El Khatib, Yao Ming or Ha Seung Jin if not for their exposure in all FIBA sanctioned tourneys? Remember Japeth and the NBA scouts? What happened? With an international experience he'll definitely uplift his resume. If I am wrong and he is ceded for any big American leagues, then we'd all be happy for him.

:) i totally agree that's why i love to see him representing our beloved smart gilas... but if the source are right that he is among the top 5 player in D-II i think for now he is in the radar now in big american leagues...:) he could play in europe like stanley pringle did.. or maybe euroleauge ^^

Elisher,

banchero will graduate hopefully in May next year and be available for the fiba-asia 2011.
