1 reliable SF, 1 Naturalized player, and 1 Pure shooter is all that Gilas needs IMO. But having a few quality players hanging around ain't such a bad idea.

realy but it ws u man talking about gilas having a lot of fil foreigners look un appealing ryt???and y the heck ur talking this "for ur edification, seeing the forest but not appreciating the trees means let us stop this fil-for vs homegrown thing as what really matters and what should be appreciated are what the players can do and can bring to the team",this what i mean,,(",) i dont mind if we had a lot of fil foriegners on gilas as long as they're willing and deserving to play for the flag

bro, what i meant by focusing on the trees is for the fans to reduce discussing the fil-for vs homegrown issue in general and instead focus on discussing the merit of the individual players, that is by discussing what the possible new reinforcements can do that the original members of the team that they could displaced cannot do.

and i have said also that im fine with fil-for. as i posted before, some of them are better than most homegrown alternatives. i did say that i don't like gilas to have that many fil-foreigners (more than half) especially if they will still have a naturalized cager. review my previous posts, i explicitly said that it is my personal view.

Fil-fors or pure breed

Fil-fors or pure breed

Can I make a suggestion? Fil foreign or pure breed players, let us just make a conscious effort not to categories them differently because they should all be considered pinoy by law and through heritage of a valid bloodline, albeit diluted. Let us stop this mentality regarding pure breed and all. After all, most pinoys descended through the Malaysian or Indonesian race in the past and have even assimilitated a lot of other racial attributes as well in modern times. Let us stop this fantasy of believing of having a pure breed national team unless one day we hear someone lobbying for the aetas and the mangyans to also exclusively represent our country by virtue of them having roots on our islands for over a thousand years now.

IBN forumers should be educated and mature enough to accept the we are now living in a global stage and should always look outward and not just inward for talents in sports and other areas. My personal opinion is that we are even lucky and fortunate enough to have these talents available at our calling. Not many countries in Asia can say that they have the luxury of forming a team that has superior athletic gene pools such as the Philippines.

We are playing for one flag and country at the end of the day, so let us just stop all this bickering about Fil fors and Pure breed players and let us consider them Pinoys from now on and move on to forming the strongest team possible to achieve our dream in qualifying for an olympic spot, after all isn't this what SMART Gilas is all about ?? Mabuhay ang Pilipinas . . !!!

correct. stop the issue of fil fors and pure breed players for smart Gilas. We need all the help we could muster.

fil fors, pure bred, it doesn't matter in the global scheme of things. as long as they play their heart out for flag and country, that what matters to me.

besides, if we're to believe National Geographic in one of their documentaries, we all came from a common gene pool... from Africa. hehehe.

Unappealing?gusto mo lng ata appealing tingnan ung team?papogi lng ata alam mo ahahaoh come on,,even other countries has been doing this,,

Dude, I was merely replying to one of neo's comments on his thoughts on Fil Fors in the team. I just told him/her that i don't think there will be that many Fil-Fors on the team as of right now because the nucleus has already been built. That doesn't mean I am against it. And please read my other posts to see that I am in favor of having the best talent available for Gilas. Doesn't matter if they're homegrown or not... Come on now :p

mark jeffries & wes libuit...their not invited , or maybe mark...i do not have any idea.:D & libuit is hard to get..hehehe:D

The question remains... who the hell are MJ and WL?

WL is for Wes Libuit, i don't know about MJ, i guess it's Michael Williams of University of San Francisco. . . But there's more to that, 4 star player with initials CO, great athlete 1/4 Filipino unsure if qualified to play. . .

Who's this CO? Isn't Coach Toro interested in JD too?

I don't see him in the William Penn lineup. Maybe he isn't enrolled there yet.

signing a letter of intent with a particular school does not mean that a player is already on their team rosters. at most those who signed with that document are those high school seniors, prospective talents for collegiate basketball.

We already have Greg Slaughter.

He's really good now, and improving further.

We just need a good 5-guy to give Greg a hand.

It just so happens that "5" is the most difficult position to fill.

But after all the hard work and patience, we'll earn our luck too.
