[Round 1 - Day 6 - Group B] Italy - Serbia

They emptied the hall one hour before the game, there was a report that a fire started (fire alarm went on), but there was no smoke. 15 mins later everybody got back to the hall after the fire department cleared the venue. Unofficially it seems that the chef in the kitchen was not careful enough...
 
I think that the only team that doesn't care which spot in the group will be is the Serbian team. As Djordjević said it last year, TO BE THE BEST YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE BEST!!! I expect a lot of minutes for Erceg and Kuzmić on center, since Raduljica can't guard Bargnani. Also, Bjelica, Kalinić and Simonović on Gallinari. Marković and Milosavljević on Belinelli. If Serbia manages to shoot for 3 on the level from games with Spain and Turkey, I expect a win, if not, it might be a very, very tough game.
 
He he tanking by Italy on the horizon :). Third place really looks that much more rewarding in Group of Death.

I think they will fight even without Belinelli, but they have practically nothing to lose if they don't win it, so this way they will be relaxed in the game.
Though it would be funny if France lost against Israel and the 3rd place finisher in our group goes straight to play against France.

1st place is good too. Face CRO in QFs. That is a favorable matchup.
 
Kuzmic - Marjanovic will be our center combo for the Olympics and future. Raduljica can provide depth. It's a joy to watch Kuzmic defend, especially vs PnR and he is getting in sync offensively. He needs to work on his post game and he will have a chance to be a complete center.
 
Italy already with a timeout. Teodošić is playing smart on PnR and just as expected Italians are nowhere near rebounds so far while settling for shots from the range 8-0
 
If it wasn't for this foul trouble and a pretty soft ref criteria (on both sides), this would've been even worse. Teo is on fire, wants this wrapped up by halftime.
 
hackett looks like someone didn't fully released the handbrake. If only Italy could play a bit faster, they would be amazing.

We should organize mixed games, like in tennis, Italy would then play together with Greece, Greece would provide the guards :)
 
some of the unsportsmanlike fouls refs are calling on this eurobasket are plain ridiculous.
 
The ref criteria is extremely soft as I called it at the beginning of the game. Quite a pity for the game where 1st place is decided. Serbia averages 20 fouls per game, one of the least fouling teams in EB2015. We got called for 15 in the first half. Italy didn't play D at all and still got called for 8 fouls. In general I hate refs who don't let the game flow naturally.

Of course you need to step in and control the game when necessary, but don't suffocate the two offenses which are a joy to watch.
