Spain almost got Serbia with Gasol doing it's job, but what a poor defence my Mirotic  Basically he left Bjelica wide open for a three in the clutch. I have to say a good word for Bjelica as I never liked his flegmatic and soft game, but now he's surely a real deal and one of the best 4 in Europe. Great fighting spirit by Serbians! Congrats.

Bjelica's improvement is outstanding. Look at this clutch time runner. From a sissy and soft player to a real leader. Can't be explained by words.

You are crazy if you ever thought he is a sissy. He is tough as nails.

Are you watching the "MOST FAKE MVP OF THE HISTORY" ??

16x9x4 stats

Excellent game from Bjelica. But we have to wait and see if he changed level, if not we know what will happen, he will disappear when it matters.

He was like that in his first year in Laboral.

That's ancient history. He was what 20-21yrs old. He is extremely hard working player in the offseason. I have been watching him play for a long time and every single year you can see improvement across the board in his skill. I think he works hard on all aspects of the game, that's why he is such an all-around beast.

Gasol with a great block on Raduljica and on the other end scored easily over him..
him just showing why he is old and washed up.
with 34 on the back still the best european center.

Always trolling :D I am impressed with your energy :D

Just when Gasol got it going and it was to be expected Serbia will try something different in defense, instead of clearing the side for Pau once more for a repeat of the only reliable offensive strategy for Spain, Llull turns the ball over in what it didn't even seem as some attempt for penetration to me. No idea what they've been up with in that possesion.Bjelica crushed Mirotić on various possesions and that's the end of the story.
Congrats Serbia, very well deserved showed the ability to play various playing styles and learned during the game which options brought succes, something I really missed with Spain. Raduljica is dissapointing in some ways, but Serbia has enough depth to overcome that.

Hated the commentators on Slo TV, first time ever they've seen Ribas on court, as if bball weren't their job.

This is all about his character. You rarely create a beast from a player who had been spending his game time with hanging out on the floor by keeping his head down. His character is strong and this mental toughness has helped him to be the one of the best player of Europe.

the game was played differently than most of us had expected; Radujlica vs Gasol... the former was far from his last tournament performance and I think Pau's days are over (even if he collected his decent stats late in the game). Spain needs fresh blood, which does not seem to be available as abundant as before.

He was sissy before he came to Fenerbahçe. I wrote "Sissy Bjelica" many times here :D

As soon as he trained under Obradovic, he transformed into a very different player.

We share the same opinion on most of the things. I have to say that I am very glad that we ran the uptempo and didn't try to kill the game and keep it low scoring. I just had a feeling that Spain is not fresh and won't be able to run with their bigs as well. All the best to Gasol and Reyes but you could see that the energy is just not there. Gasol's pure class helped him put together a decent box score, but overall he didn't have a good game either. He forced a lot, got stuck in transition (which was his forte before). I would like us to play similar style when we go up against Lithuania/France as well. Over 40 minutes, they won't be able to keep up.

He wasn't a sissy even when he played in Crvena Zvezda. Just terrible reasoning. Obradovic is a great coach in putting together systems, hybrids and finding weaknesses to exploit. His forte was never in developing players. He will find a way to make a player useful and contribute to the victory and exploit others weaknesses. He is not a developmental guru.

I'm really happy how we played, despite the worst imaginable defense by Raduljica, Kuzmić and Erceg on Gasol and Reyes. Bjelica was magnificient, he completely destroyed Mirotić, and proved that he indeed is an NBA-caliber player. Nedović, Marković, Teodosić and Bogdanović were also very good, if they continue to play this way i can't see us loosing a game in this group (with all due respect to Italy and Turkey).

True that CoachZ. I'll reconsider my opinion regarding Serbian speed :)
I really missed some system within Spain. If you ask me, I'd run PnR through Teo and Raduljica defending just about every time they're on court. Various switches for Mirotić/Pau or Reyes under the rim to create missmatches... but than again as you said the energy was not there, they might have been trying some stuff, but I haven't noticed it. While we're at it, Bjelica even if I don't consider him as some excelent defender ussualy, was a poison for Mirotić on the defensive side as well, as far as my count goes, Mirotič was mostly scoring on others, at least that part of Spanish plan (i suppose) was present there to some degree and for some limited time span.

Spain does tend to switch one gear up when it matters however, you can't play succesfull basketball when your scoring depends on streaks and most often that streak even being connected to succesfull defense to a large degree + some 1 on 1 solutions that might get you somewhere, but unless Dirk in his prime is the one doing it, that somewhere won't be near the medals imo.

Serbia obviously has fans in the arena, 3-4,5 great players they can rely on in clutch situations, some others just as importantly that are good doing their roles and is able to play with a lots of variety in game, which is also ussualy the trademark for succesfull teams. I don't think games vs. Turkey, Italy or Germany will be easy, but Serbia just made a big step towards winning the group B.

It is very important that we split the draw with Spain. The worst that can happen is that we are on the same side, because the second game will be a whole another monster. So we should go for 1, and send Spain to the bottom of the draw in knockout. I still prefer France in the Semis to Spain.
