Like I said as soon as we push the tempo we get back in the game. We went small, and fast and got back in the game despite 9 TO. He had to rest Pau, and we just went to town on Reyes, Hernangomes and Claver
 
It's the first game and everything, but it's obvious this Spanish team is at least one level below 2006-2012. They are surely a contender, but not that absolute team to beat in this tournament. I guess only France might qualify for this name in this tournament, but it's still a question. It makes this Eurobasket even more interesting.

Spain tried to utilize Llull's advantage against Teo, but it didn't really work so far. Mirotic can't buy a bucket even if he had at least 3 shots from his spots. Gasol underperforms today and he's still a great player, but I'm thinking this will be a first tournament when he will not be truly dominant. He doesn't have the some explosiveness anymore.

Serbia couldn't get any contribution from centers. They run the system with guards. That was something unexpected for Spain.
 
Terrible shot selection by Spain, with little effort to improve that and you can be sure their game won't work when their players aren't running and switching position as fast as they ussualy do. Serbia stopped forcing the ball inside and is playing from perimeter with a great succes. Best game thus far by Serbia is with Nedović instead of Teo on court, I agree small-ball worked well, however I personaly more felt like there were 3 factors to it, Nedović, Reyes/Mirotić at C and no more 1 on1 inside the paint without 95+% of the time ball ever being passed back on perimeter.

Scariolo, well... never been a fan, but this performance is on him to a large degree.

Serbia got the confidence now and will be really hard to stop.

Bjelica's improvement is outstanding. Look at this clutch time runner. From a sissy and soft player to a real leader. Can't be explained by words.
 
Bjelica MVP, and great game also from Markovic, Teodosic & Bogdanovic.

Spain paid the relaxed preparation tour (no preparation at all, only marketing), and the lack of interior D. Also they don't have a defined game, stagnant offense as we can't play Real Madrid's style with Pau as a center.
Sergio Rodriguez played an awful game as expected, and our guards had a terrible shooting day.

Congrats Serbia!
