Canaleta! hahaha

Can shoot 3s can dunk, thats it! Too slow for 2 or 3 spot and has low BBIQ. hagis lang ng hagis yan parang ginagawa nya sa PBA haha

How many times chot use canaleta? Dubai? Hk? Did he receive invitation from chot?

that's why i readily conceded that he is not irreplaceable. but we have a whole pba season to take a second look. you may bash me more for saying this but the reason i included canaleta in my lineup is because i'm trying to minimize the inclusion of american-sounding names in the philippine team. having 3- 4 players with american surnames is fine since we are a former colony. but 5, i think, is too much. we might look like a farce in the FIBA worlds.

actually, you will never know and in case you lived under a rock. canaleta was already tried and tested.

chot was building a team for the FIBA asia then. it's fiba worlds now. two different goals. in the first, we were trying to build a winning team. in the second, i am just trying to form a tall and competitive team- with filipino sounding surnames as much as possible.

lol. i never thought somebody would make it a criteria for selecting a player. hilarious. you have a future.

by the way,canaleta is a fil-am.

oh please, i know that canaleta is a fil-am but he carries his mother's name. i'm stating an opinion and you're being an arrogant c@nt over it. that makes you an @sshole on my list ahaha.

here's a tall imagining of a PH team without sacrificing speed.

Gabe Norwood, Jeff Chan, Kg Calaneta, Japeth Aguilar, Junmar Fajardo, Jared Dilinger, Arwind Santos, Marc Pingris, Ranidel de Ocampo, Jason Castro, Jimmy Alapag, and naturalized center.

.
Filipino sounding surnames? Ok then we have to omit Norwood, Dillinger and William (American surname), Chan (Chinese surname) and Pingris (French surname). . .

How many 2nd look canaleta needs?

i said let's minimize. there's a reason why the koreans and japanese change the names of their half-foreigners to native ones. it's called national pride. if we send a team with a lot of american sounding names, i fear that we might be ridiculed for being a farce.

Gary David's inclusion raised some eyebrows here, paano pa kaya si Canaleta?

and - extending your line of thought - I think sending a Fil-Am-stacked team to Spain isn't that bad because that will raise awareness about the plight of our Amerasians represented by Miller, Abueva, Castro and Canaleta etc. Nagpapakatotoo lang tayo. We're just being true to ourselves: there are a LOT OF FILIPINOS with foreign surnames.

i dont' understand why we need to hide or limit those players with non-pinoy sounding surnames. if they are deserving, so be it. Almost all people in the world knows anyway that there are millions of Filipino migrants in different parts of the world.

Very true. And if that is the case, then only alapag should play. The others are spanish surnames. Alapag is the only filipino surname. Hahaha

There's nothing wrong with players with foreign-sounding surnames. What's impotant is they're eligible and they pass the passport by age 16 requirement of fiba.

In the future we'll have parks jr., van opstal, matthew wright donning the RP jersey plus slaughter

it's not a matter of right and wrong. surely, you can't say that the koreans and japanese are wrong whenever they change the foreign names of their half-foreigners to native ones. this is just a matter of perspective. why was anthony suntay so defensive when his fellow american commentator in the jones cup wrongly identified kelly williams as an american import? fortunately, he had the opportunity to correct the american.
